of Fine Arts in Performance. Lauren was born and spent most of her life in South Africa
yet now calls Devlin home with her husband who grew up in the area.
She has completed courses in Drama Theory and Practice, Dialects, Voice and Speech,
Stage Combat and more. She has also performed all over Alberta. Selected credits at
the U of L include “Hamlet” (Gertrude), “Hayfever” (Myra), “Spring Awakening” (Mrs.
Gabor), “Hair: The Musical”, “The BFG and R & J” (Romeo); at Theatre Calgary “A
Midsummer Night’s Dream” - Shakespeare in the Park (Titania); “The Possible Lives of
Dolores Garcia Rodriguez” - Sage/Ignite Festival. Other notable roles that she has
played are Mrs. Johnstone in “Blood Brothers” and Mrs. Soames in “Our Town”. Most
recently, she performed in the Christmas show with Fort Frances Little Theatre. Lauren
is excited to be a part of this festival, which supports something she truly believes in:
fostering and supporting the passions of young people.
FRENCH DRAMA DIVISION
Adjudicator – Michael Brady
Michael Brady was born and raised in Fort Frances, ON. He graduated from FFHS with
his French Immersion certificate and continued his studies at the University of Ottawa.
He graduated "Cum Laude" with an Honours BA in French as a Second Language and a
Minor in Philosophy. Wanting to ensure that more students received a valuable bilingual
education like he did, Michael enrolled in Teacher's College at Lakehead University,
after which he was immediately hired to teach grades 4 and 5 French Immersion in
Melville, SK. He has recently moved back to the area and is looking forward to teaching
French to the next generation here.
Outside of teaching, Michael has always had a passion for the performing arts and
public speaking. He loves music, and enjoys being in theatrical performances. He is
also on the Tour de Fort board. Michael is excited to encourage and promote French
education in the Rainy River District.
