As we are entering the first week of
Lent, we are following Jesus into the
desert for 40 days of fast and prayer.
Why does the Church ask us to fast
and prayer and almsgiving? Fasting
help to elevate our soul and heart to
God by resisting temptation and focus our desires toward God.
It also helps us to sympathy with the poor what they do not
have. Prayer helps us reconnect with God’s relationship. God
becomes real in our life. We can listen to Him and He can listen
to us. Our faith, hope and love will be strengthened through
prayer. Almsgiving is one of the three pillars of Lenten practice,
"a witness to fraternal charity" and "a work of justice pleasing
to God." Jesus said that whatever we do for the least of our
brothers and sisters, we do for Him. Therefore, almsgiving is to
help us recognizing Jesus in people, especially the poor.
So forty days of Lent is about the spiritual journey with Jesus
Christ. It could be as a journey with Jesus in the desert. It only
has silence and listening the will of God. It may be as a journey
with Jesus up to Jerusalem to witness the unconditional love
when He gave His life on the cross to redeem us. Let these forty
days of Lent as time we really experience Jesus’ presence and
love. Let He strengthens our spiritual life and heal it.
Furthermore, let us humble ourselves before God and longing
for Him because we are dust and we will return to dust one day.

R.I.M.
means what….? R = Relationship
...This is always where our spiritual
journey begins, recognizing that all we
have and are to be comes from our
loving God. Through Prayer and Word
and Worship we come to know God.
As the Catechism says: (CCC 27); The
dignity of man rests above all on the fact
that he is called to communion with God.
For, if man exists it is because God has
created him through love, and through
love continues to hold him in existence.
We respond by prayer…. Not just talking
to God, but LISTENING. SHHH!

Diocesan Collection for
Diocesan Priest Retirement
Diocesan priests live independently during
their retirement, and they use their pension
for basic needs, such as food, housing and
transportation. As is the case with pension
plans in today’s world, our priests’ retirement
program is not fully funded. Next weekend’s
special collection will help to bridge the gap.
Please give generously to ensure adequate
retirement and health coverage will be
available for our priests in retirement.
Envelopes are in the pews, and will be taken
through the month of March.

The Kinders and Firsties celebrated the 100th
Day of school by becoming secret agents. The
room was transformed into spy headquarters
and the students spent the day completing
missions to determine where Agent 99 had
taken Zero the Hero. The students completed
all the missions, gathered all the clues and
were able to save the day. Visit the school’s
facebook page to see pictures of the day and
the students in action as secret agents.
