2016 Fuddruckers State Soccer Championships
General Information
FORMAT:
The 2016 Fuddruckers NMAA State Soccer Championships is a 12 team single elimination
tournament. The first round of 12 is scheduled for October 28-29 at home sites of the higher
seeded team; with the top four seeds having a bye. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will
be played on three consecutive days (November 3-5).
COACHES MEETING:
There will be a state tournament coaches meeting on Wednesday, November 2 from 6-7pm at
the NMAA Office, 6600 Palomas NE, Albuquerque. Coach/tournament packets will be
distributed at that meeting. Packets include all tournament information, player bag-tags, coach
credentials, various meal and corporate discount tickets.
Athletes and coaches must have been submitted to the NMAA via the official roster form no
later than 5:00 PM on Monday, Oct. 24 to be granted free tournament admission. Each school
is limited to 22 roster players. Up to two managers/statisticians will be admitted, and must be
present with the team and coach.
At the tournament site players, coaches and managers on busses and individual vehicles should
bear to the far right lane after entering through the complex gate. Players should be in
uniform. A player out of uniform, or a coach/player not traveling with the team, will be
required to show a photo ID that matches the name/photo in the tournament program. It is
strongly suggested that all players travel on team busses to the event.
Bag Tags, included in your coach’s packet are souvenirs and do not gain entry into the facility.
PACKET PICK UP TIMES:
Wednesday, Nov. 2 (NMAA Only)
6:00—7:00 PM at state tournament coaches meeting
Thursday, Nov. 3 (Bernalillo Soccer Complex Team Gate Only)
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
FIELDS:
The 2016 NMAA State Soccer Championships will be held at the Bernalillo Soccer Complex. The
grass-field complex is located just north of NM550 just off NM528.
Teams will be permitted into the complex an hour and a half prior to the first game of the day.
Spectator and fan entrance will open one hour prior to the first game. There will be two warmup fields (Field 2 & 3) available for teams prior to their scheduled games.
PRACTICE:
No teams shall practice at the Bernalillo Soccer Complex prior to the tournament.
4
BUS PARKING:
In order to provide ample parking for spectators and fans all buses are required to park in the
designated bus parking area, located between fields #12 and 13 and 15 and 22 (See map on
page 3). Buses/team vans should drop off team members in the “Event Worker/Officials Lot”
adjacent to Field #9.
TEAM/COACH ENTRANCE:
Teams that ride a bus and players/coaches arriving in their own cars will enter through the
main facility entrance. Bear to the right and proceed to the “Team/Official Entrance Gate.
Because of fan parking limitations and logistical challenges with checking individual athletes
at the entrance to the soccer complex the NMAA strongly advises schools to provide a bus for
all team members throughout the event. Only “soccer” coaches who have registered with the
MaxPreps system and are listed on the “Team Roster Form” will be admitted free.
ADMINISTRATOR ENTRANCE:
School Administrators will have to identify themselves accordingly upon arrival at the
“Team/Officials Entrance Gate”. Please insure that all administrators have some form of school
ID. If you are traveling with a person who must pay admission please enter through one of
the left two lanes.
MISCONDUCT:
All misconduct rules and regulations will be enforced during the entire tournament.
7.17.3 Misconduct Progression Rule
A. Regular Season
1. Yellow cards received during regular season, tournament competition, and state first round
must be counted. Once a player has accumulated five yellow cards, they are suspended for the
next game. Once the player accumulates three additional yellow cards (totaling eight yellow
cards), they are suspended for the next two games and are required to attend a meeting with
the school’s Athletic Director, head coach and the NMAA Executive Director or his/her
designee. Any additional yellow cards received by a player after eight total cards will be subject
to more severe penalties by the NMAA Executive Director, including but not limited to
suspension from additional contests.
2. Any team whose players and coaches, during the regular season, collectively receive a total
of 24 or more yellow cards (including all second yellow/red cards and straight red cards) will be
required to attend a meeting with the school’s Athletic Director and the NMAA Executive
Director or his/her designee.
3. Any school receiving 32 or more yellow cards will be prohibited from participation in postseason. Any yellow/red cards received by the coach will count toward the 32 card total.
4. If a player receives a red card or a second yellow card resulting in disqualification, that
individual is suspended for the next scheduled game. These are minimum penalties. All yellow
and red cards must be reported to the NMAA.
5
5. Coaches who are ejected must sit out the next contest minimally in post season as well as
regular season play.
B. Post Season
Upon commencement of the quarterfinal round of the post-season, players and coaches
receive a “clean slate” for the accumulation of cards. However, any pending sit-out resulting
from the accumulation of cards or a direct send-off must be fulfilled in post-season if the
requirement for a sit-out has not been satisfied during the regular season. For example, if a
player receives a fifth yellow card or is sent off during the final regular season game or first
round state game, he/she will be required to sit out the quarterfinal round game of the postseason if the team has advanced, or the first game next season if the team has not qualified for
post-season competition.
1. If a player is ejected for “persisting in misconduct after receiving caution” (a “second yellow
card” offense) he/she is charged with one caution in that contest. However, the player ejected
is not permitted to participate in the following contest.
2. Any yellow cards received during the regular season or first round of state DO NOT carry over
into the post-season. NOTE: If an athlete receives the 5th, 7th, 9th, etc. yellow card in the last
game of the regular season or first round of the state tournament, the athlete will be required
to sit out the quarterfinal round game in post-season play. Athletes who receive a second
yellow card in post-season play will be required to sit out the next game. Also, an athlete who
receives a red card must sit out the next game minimally, no matter when it is received.
3. Coaches who are ejected must sit out the next contest minimally in post season.
