November 1, 2013 - Week 44
Words from Office
Welcome back from the holidays.
Yesterday was non-uniform day which everyone liked. The point of
this new tradition is to make a little money for the new student
council.
On Monday, a class from the 8. grade in Thyborøn is coming to
visit us. They are going to see what it is like to go to school in an
international school and Key Stage 4 is going to visit the Gymnasium in the afternoon to get the experience of the IB education.
Monday night a selection meeting is going to take place in the NLTRoom. It starts at 19:00 and everyone is welcome to watch the politicians answer questions. The school is open to anyone who is interested.
Please remember that we are having parent meeting soon. You will
get the final time and dates in the beginning of next week.
Please also remember that the Questions and Answer sessions will
take place soon. More about this later in the newsletter.
Our accountant, Marianne Nielsen, has decided to end her corporation with us due to personal reasons, so she will not be available
anymore. She had her last work day with us yesterday.

KS1 have been reading and writing instructions in English. Some of
them included dance instructions and smoothie making recipes! In
Maths they have worked with addition and number bonds. In Science
the students have experimented with light and dark and discovered
how their eyes adjust to the amount of light they receive- the children
watched their pupils get smaller! In Art KS1 have learnt about the life
of Vincent Van Gogh and recreated some of his most famous
paintings, such as The Sunflowers.
As we say goodbye to Autumn,
UKS2 went outside to explore
the many colors of the season.
They carefully collected leaves
of every color to inspire their
watercolor Art. Each child made
impressive leaves and can keep
a little piece of Autumn until the
snow comes!

subjects will be receiving new and updated books over the next few weeks.
The first few subjects are here and are now with the students in their lessons.
Please remember that we
are having Questions and
Answers meetings on following dates:
Also this week the NLT room has been transformed into a badminton court.
Our building is home to more than just classrooms!

Nov. 20 at 7 pm
Nov. 22 at 8 am
The three meetings have
the same agenda so you
are only required to attend
one meeting.
It is very important that you
attend as issues such as
school uniform and book
fees will be disclosed.
We look forward to seeing
you at the meetings.
On Monday 4 November all the Year 10 and Year 11 students will visit the
Gymnasium here in Ikast and take part in a presentation by the students
studying the IB Diploma Programme. The presentation will be on ‘Theory of
Knowledge’ this is similar to our Social studies and Global perspectives
programmes. They are encouraged to think and question why we know
something and is there another option. It encourages them to think about
their own understanding of the World and it promotes consideration of
how they interact with others. Our students will watch presentations by
their students and then ask questions and give feedback.
This serves as an opportunity to learn more about what can be studied
after IGCSEs and it is a chance for our students to see what an IB students
does.
In year 10 the students have spent two Fridays learning how to tie a tie
with Mr. Murrey. He broke it down into steps so it was easier to
remember. The students were each given one of Mr. Murrey’s funny ties
and then lined up in the classroom. They thought they looked silly but had
a fun time tying ties, having a hard time not to giggle. It was a different
but fun thing to learn in school.
Friday, October 25 was Mr.
Passo’s Birthday. He was so
kind to call us on Skype from
Spain to say hi. He had also
made sure that there were
”flødeboller” to all the children
afterwards.
On Monday morning, October 28, the children and
teachers really surprised him with a Birthday song,
dancing and cake. They had rehearsed all week
when Mr. Passo was on holiday.
”HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. PASSO”
