Policy Regarding Parent Deliveries during the School Day on the OMS
Campus On the Old Mission School campus, we are working very hard to help students
develop personal responsibility and accountability. We have adopted a policy of not accepting
the delivery of papers, books, reports, projects, etc. that parents might bring to school because
the students have forgotten them. We never want to teach students that someone will follow
behind them in life to see that they have their personal materials. In the bigger picture of life, we
all want our students to feel confident and self-reliant. Please help by discussing this policy in a
very positive way with your children, so that students fully understand how this policy will help
them prepare for life in the 21st century. Parents may still drop off lunches. Lunches will be
placed outside the office on a lunch table. Please be sure your students know the place to find
lunch deliveries, and please be sure their names are clearly written on the lunches.

Living Rosary We will celebrate a Living Rosary and Crowning of Mary in honor of the
mother of Jesus. This event will take place on the playground on Monday, May 2 at 9:15 AM.
We ask that students decorate a large can or plastic container and bring it to school (along
with flowers from home) on May second to help with these reverent festivities. All families are
invited to attend. We will also need parents to snip stems and arrange flowers starting at 7:45
AM that morning. Bring your clippers!

Get on the Bus 2016
Child-to-Child Ministry
11th Annual Donation Drive
∙ This is the 11th year OMS is involved in Get on the Bus , a program that brings children throughout the state of California to visit their mothers and fathers in prison.
∙ In 2006, OMS helped launch the very first Father’s Day event which was held at the California
Men's Colony.
∙ An interfaith community of over 50 organizations has come together to answer the call.
∙ This year 9 buses of children will travel to visit their fathers at San Luis Obispo’s California Men's
Colony on May 14 th .
∙ OMS families can support the program by donating games, money to rent a bus, and supplies to
fill Stay-Connected Bags . These bags will help the children
communicate with their fathers when the children return home.
∙ Tithing collected (on the 5 Fridays after Easter break during morning
assembly) will also help pay for a bus. There is also a donation box in the
office.
∙ Please send NEW items only. These are gifts to the precious children riding the buses.
∙ Please send items listed below to school by 12:00 on Friday, April 22nd .
