WL28 Nell Burn Path

Start, route and finish
This is a 1.7 mile (2.7km) path that starts in the north at the A89 at Wester Dechmont
and then heads south through woodland near Woodlands Park and Beechwood Park to
eventually cross Deans East Road by an underpass near St John Ogilvie Primary School.
Passing to the west of the school’s playing fields, it heads south through open space and
woodland strips before passing under the Bathgate to Edinburgh Rail Line and then under
Houston Road. It strikes west and south through woodlands that are part of Livingston
Old Wood, which is the setting for Eliburn Reservoir, before terminating at WL1 National
Cycle Route 75.
Start, route and finish
This is a 4.8 mile (7.7km) path that dissects Livingston from north to south. It starts in the
north at the A89 opposite Knightsridge Road in Dechmont. It then heads south initially
following a section of former highway before taking a footbridge over the Junction 3 exit
slip road from the M8. It then drops down to go through an underpass below the M8 itself.
to follow a woodland strip on the eastern boundary of the Deer Park Golf and Country
Club. It meets WL36 Dechmont Law Link at the road crossing and continues south to cross
over the Bathgate to Edinburgh Rail Line after which it crosses WL29 Railway Path. It then
passes through the eastern edge of Knightsridge and Ladywell, crosses WL30 Harrysmuir
Path at the primary school before crossing WL1 National Cycle Path 75 near the River
Almond to the east of the centre of Livingston. It continues south through Dedridge and
at Williamson Primary School strikes west passes under Murieston West road to terminate
at Alderstone Road at Bellsquarry Wood.
WL29 Railway Path
Start, route and finish
This is a 5 mile (8km) path that, as its name suggests, runs west to east parallel with the
Bathgate to Edinburgh Rail Line in north Livingston. It starts in the west where it leaves
Deans South heads east and soon meets WL28 Nell Burn Path to use the railway underpass.
However, it then heads east again passing below Deans East Road at Livingston North
Railway Station and passes to the north of Knightsridge to cross beneath the A899 just to
the south of the Livingston East/Deer Park Roundabout. On the eastern side of the A899
it heads south on a whindust path to reach the end of Nettlehill Road. After heading east
along the industrial estate road for a quarter of a mile, the path turns north by way of Todd
Square. This then leads onto the cyclepath again which heads
east to terminate on the main road through Uphall Station.
WL33 Folly Burn Path
Start, route and finish
This 1.1 mile (1.8km) path heads south-east from WL29 Railway Path at Livingston North
Railway Station and crosses over Houston Road by a high bridge just to the west of Eliburn
North Roundabout. It then heads south through a thin strip of open space and after
crossing under Eliburn Road enters a broader area of wooded
open space which leads through to Peel Park. After leaving the
park the path turns westwards passing through open space to
the north of Cousland Road before meeting WL1 National Cycle
Path 75.
WL30 Harrysmuir Path
Start, route and finish
This is a 1.2 mile (1.9km) path that heads east at Harrysmuir
Primary School, Ladywell from WL31 Loan Path, crosses the
A899 by a long high bridge, for pedestrians and dismounted
cyclists, before passing between Craigswood Sports Centre
and the south side of Houston Industrial Estate to reach Grange
Road. It crosses Grange Road and then by following Harrysmuir
Road reaches the main road through Pumpherston.
