Interviews
Thank you to the families who took the opportunity to talk, share and plan for the
learning journey of their child with teachers. These conversations are valuable and
give information which helps families and the educators plan for future learning.
Governing Council Busy Bee
Thank you to those families who gave so generously of their time on Sunday 3rd
April. A special thanks to Gavin Hodgson for use of his equipment which make work
so much easier and quicker and to Nathan Arbon, David Tilbrook, Jocelyn Venning
and Family and Karena Wilson for their time and efforts.
Band visit in Week 3 Term 2 “Hope Downloaded”
We have the opportunity to have a band from the Schools Ministry Group visit on
Monday 16th May, “they will interact with the children through live music,
interactive activities and storytelling. The songs are strategically chosen from top
hits of today, that are fun, vibrant and most of all hold a positive message for
students.”
There is no charge as the local churches are funding the performance. If you do not
wish for your child to take part please SMS, email, tiqbiz one2one or telephone to
opt out.
ANZAC Dawn Service
The local RSL has extended an invitation to all families and community members
who would like to take part in the Dawn Service to join them at Adelaide Square
and back at RSL after the service. Please see details later in the newsletter.

If you have any questions about the 2016 NAPLAN testing - Years 3, 5, and 7, which
will be in week 2 of term 2 please make a time to speak with Anne or your child’s
teacher.
Anne on leave Week 4-10 Term 2
I am taking leave in Term 2, while I am on leave Annette Vincin will be taking my place.
Pastoral Care Workers
In School all day Mondays, Thursdays
and Fridays until 2.30pm
Annette is a very experienced Principal who will support the learning needs of our
school during this time. I will be travelling in Canada, taking a cruise along the coast of
Alaska and returning to Australia via Hong Kong. When I return I will have one new
grandchild (hopefully be born before I leave) and my daughter and her husband are
expecting her first in early July after I return – that is the plan!
Holidays
Please enjoy the holidays, it is a wonderful time for families to spend at home,
exploring new and revisiting favourite place. I love autumn and the beautiful colours
of the leaves of our European trees. One of my families favourite places to visit was
the “Old Nursery” at Wirrabara, sadly that was destroyed in the Bangor fires but there
are other places to find autumnal colour. There is early dismissal on Friday 15th
2:20pm, please have a happy safe holiday and return ready for many more great
learning experiences on Monday 2nd May.

Knockout Basketball
Last Wednesday saw an enthusiastic team of Yr 6/7 Boys travel to Jamestown to test themselves against five other
teams from across the Mid-North.
The Team continued to rack up wins throughout the day, however it came down to the very last game of the
competition for them to be declared overall undefeated winners and secure a place in the next round. Congratulations
boys, the way in which you conducted yourself on and off the court was exemplary. Many thanks to Todd SimpsonDunn who managed the team as well as Jo Hayes for providing her much needed assistance in umpiring.
Cross Country
SAPSASA Cross Country expressions of interest are now being taken for children aged 10-13 years (born 2003 to 2006).
If your child is interested in attending Cross Country at Wilmington on Tuesday 17th May (Week 3) please have them
put their name down at the Office and take an information letter. Please keep in mind if your child is interested in
competing in Adelaide (Thursday 9th June) they MUST nominate in Division 1. They would also like numbers of people
interested in morning tea and lunch. Please make sure your children have all this information before they put their
name down. Nominations will close Monday 9th May, Week 2. Thank you.

2016 Magazine
Parent Club have been responsible for producing the wonderful School Magazine which is published each year and
includes all of the major events which has occurred at the School throughout the year and also showcases each class and
their learning journey. It is a fantastic keep sake for our children to look back on as they proceed through their school
lives.
We are always looking for photos taken through-out the year and endeavour to include each student a few times in the
magazine.
In the past the magazine has been put together by only one or two parents, which has been a massive job!!
Parent Club are looking to form a “Magazine Committee” comprising of maybe 6 parents to help lighten the load and also
share different artistic ideas to individualise each years magazine.
If you or someone you know may be interested in helping out, please contact Meagan (0428 859 199), or Rachael
(0439 708 192).
Unfortunately if we do not get enough interest the magazine may have to be cancelled for this and future years.
Parent Club Events Calendar 2016
Parent Club have an ‘Events Calendar’ to help spread the work load and give all parents/ caregivers/ families the
opportunity to become involved. If you are interested in being a co-ordinator for any of the dates below or would like to
help out at events, please give me a call or email. If you would like to know more about what is involved (no obligation!!)
please just ask! You may even have an idea of your own for fundraising.
