What is Taste NY?
Taste NY is statewide initiative that highlights the quality, diversity and economic impact of
New York State’s food and beverage industry. It provides an opportunity for New York growers
and producers to receive increased exposure of their products to consumers, restaurateurs,
retailers, wholesalers, and distributors through:
Taste NY Stores
Taste NY Retail Stores showcase diverse, unique specialty foods and the finest wines,
craft beverages, distilled spirits and ciders from across the State. Each store is
privately owned and operated, with products chosen by the store owner.
Retail Markets
New York State products are exclusively sold at Taste NY retail markets, in vending
machines and kiosks at transportation hubs, on menus at Taste NY cafes, at sport and
event concessions and in stores.
Special Events
Taste NY sponsors and participates in numerous national and international events
that highlight and market New York foods and beverages.
Online Tools
Taste NY Website: www.taste.ny.gov – includes the latest information on Taste NY
Events, as well as an interactive map that enables consumers to locate locally
produced foods and beverages
New York Farms and Food: https://farmsandfood.agriculture.ny.gov/ – allows users to
search pick-your-own farms, producers, wineries, nurseries and greenhouses,
agritourism destinations, harvest times and wholesale information.
Open New York: www.open.ny.gov – provides information to help consumers find wineries, breweries, distilleries and local farmers’ markets near their home. It features
an interactive map that provides directions and detailed information on hours of
operation for those in the winery, brewery and distillery database.

Taste NY Retail Models
There are a variety of ways New York State products get promoted through Taste NY retail
opportunities. This directory can be useful for businesses trying to get their product into the
Taste NY retail network. It includes a listing of all the Taste NY retail opportunities categorized
by location and type of outlet:
Taste NY Stores (****)
These are fully-branded, standalone Taste NY stores that include a large variety of
all NY-made food and beverage products.
Taste NY Cafes (***)
Taste NY Cafes sell food and beverages for on-premise consumption, ranging from
NY-made coffee and tea to sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. They are located at
premier tourism, entertainment, and sport destinations.
Taste NY Concessions (**)
Concessions branded Taste NY offer all New York food and beverage options for
visitors, and are located at state parks, tourism destinations, and entertainment and
sports venues.
Product Displays (*)
Taste NY product displays are often found in travel and tourism hubs, like service areas along the NYS Thruway, and are essentially a “store within a store.” They vary in
size and can include shelving or larger displays, while offering a variety of products,
from dry goods to yogurts, to locally-roasted coffees and drinks.
