Geographic Information System(GIS) – a computer-based mapping technology that gathers, stores, analyzes, and shows information about places. It puts all of this information onto a map, sometimes in layers or each map is created individually. Geography Careers: Cartographer – a person who creates maps Surveyor – people who map and measure the land Location analyst – a person who studies an area to find the best location for someone. For example, a person who wants to build a new shopping center would use a location analyst to help him/her pick the best location to build. Urban planner – a person who creates plans for improving parts of a city. Urban = city: Rural = countryside Climatologist – a geographer who study climates
