Napoleon Township is located in Jackson County in the Southeast part of the County. The
Township is approximately 29 square miles with 2 square miles of water area. The population
is 6,962 with 8% urban, 92% rural.
This is a full-time working Chief position, road patrol duty required, appointed by Township
Board and reports to Township Supervisor. Minimum requirements: MCOLES certification; five
years documented law enforcement supervisory experience; Associates Degree or in the
alternative, ten years of documented law enforcement supervisory experience; demonstrated
general computer skills; experience in crime prevention and community policing;
demonstrated experience communicating orally and in writing. Firefighter qualification is
desirable but not required. Benefits include health insurance and 401(k).
A background investigation will be conducted to evaluate the applicant’s employment,
education, credit, criminal, driving or other personal records.
Responsible for administrative, supervisory, training and community relations. Current staff
includes two part-time sergeants, one full-time officer, and several part-time officers.
