Kindergarteners will focus on fun, age-appropriate skills and games once a week. For 1st/2nd graders, there is one week-night and one Sat. practice that will allow in-house games, along with two Sat. Jamborees during the season. For 3rd-6th, there is one week-night practice and a home or away Sat. game, in addition to the two Jamborees. The youth basketball program is for grades K-6 and held in the HCS gym. Grades 1&2 will focus on skills and play inhouse games. Grades 3-6 will have one mid-week practice and play home and away games within the greaterBurlington area through CVRA - Champlain Valley Recreation Association - January 5 through February 9, 2013. Hinesburg Recreation After School Enrichment Options Autumn 2012 at HCS This program is designed for Hinesburg children, regardless of where they attend school. All registration and payments are made through HRD - Hinesburg Recreation Department. Classes are not held when school is cancelled, during vacations, or on half-days. Prompt pick-up at the completion of class is appreciated. There are limited scholarships available. Please call with any questions or suggestions. Helping our children grow, learn, and have fun is what recreation is all about! After-School Horseback Riding Enjoy horseback riding lessons with Kim Johansen. These lessons are for beginning and early intermediate riders. Kim will instruct children on basic horse care, tacking, along with riding instruction. Take the bus from HCS to Livery Stables, located at 601 Lavigne Hill Rd. right after school. Junior After School Golf Join Cedar Knoll Golf Pro Barry Churchill for this afterschool golfing option. The perfect opportunity for a youngster who’s taken some lessons - such as Barry’s Youth Golf Camp - and is ready to play on the course. Range balls and video analysis is included to analyze their swing. Who: 2nd-8th graders Where: Cedar Knoll Golf Course. Students may take the bus from HCS. Please include a permission note. Hinesburg Children’s Choir For students who wish to sing, receive vocal training based on Kodaly concepts, singing in tune, using “head voice”, the upper register, harmony, breathing, tone quality, enunciation, sight singing, reading music, solfege, and music theory. Repertoire will include traditional American literature and folk songs, children’s songs by classic composers, jazz, ethnic music from around the world and contemporary music. A white shirt and black pants are needed for concerts and a willingness to focus and learn. Directed by Andrea Baldwin Haulenbeek with a BS & MA in music education, taught for 30 years, is a professional pianist, composer/arranger, organist, and piano teacher. CHILDREN’S ENRICHMENT Pre-School Dance with Miss Jeanne Come join the fun of Miss Jeanne’s creative movement dance class. This class offers the basics of ballet, tap, and gymnastics. There is music and singing in an open atmosphere. Students should wear loose clothing that allows comfortable movement - leotards, tights, and even a tutu if desired. Classes run Sept. through May with a recital the first Friday in June. Who: 3-4 year olds When: Fridays, starting Sept. 7th. Full refunds will be given for any programs cancelled by the Recreation Department. The Department reserves the right to cancel any program for lack of minimum enrollment.
