Larry Laing’s Workshop
This month we are doing a very special
project. This lovely bird house attaches to
your window and you can watch the birds
raise their young! How fun will that be?
There will be a $5.00 fee for the materials
needed for this project. Larry has to purchase plexi-glass to put between the birds
and the window at the back of the house.
This plexi-glass will be one way viewing
so that we can see in but the birds can’t see
out! Stop by the Activity Department and
let us know if you want to be signed up for
this project. We have
Oh Snap Camera Club
Brenda’s picture caught
the most eyes!!! Good Job
Brenda! New pictures
from the Camera Club
will be posted near the
Activity Room so don’t
forget to vote!
WINNER!!!

Resident of the Month
Red Mallott
My nickname is “Red” because I have red hair. I was born in North Central Washington by the Okanogan River. Winter was so cold I could skate on
the ice and Summers were super hot. My Dad had an apple orchard and
raised them to sell. I am the last one of my siblings living. I have a son in
Phoenix Arizona. He is a truck driver for the city of Phoenix.
I started working at the Post Office in Reseda California when postage
was three cents a stamp. I worked there for 26 years. My first job was walking a route which I did for a year; never having been bit by a dog. Then I
moved to the position of clerk.
I considered myself a rock hound collecting Agates and Jasper from the Mohave Desert. I tumbled the stone and made jewelry. I went out on day trips to
collect the rocks since we lived so close.
I walked to grade school. They finally got a bus by the time I was in high
school. I didn’t much care for school but I did like my eighth grade teacher
Adrian Douglas.
Model T Ford was the first car I ever owned. The most impressive trip I
took was a plane from Seatac to Pheonix. It took only three hours...it went
500 miles per hour and it was 1500 miles long.
Thank you for choosing me as Resident of the Month.

I don’t have a wonderful picture of
this young man. But he has been here
before to do a recital for us. His

for us. If I remember correctly his last
recital was very good. So don’t forget
to mark your calendar, for April the

down and show this young man just
how much we appreciate music and
those people who choose to share their
talents with us!

Tips to KEEPING
HEALTHY:
“Gardening can be a great
way to enjoy the outdoors,
get physical activity, beautify the community, and grow nutritious fruits and vegetables. Take a
few minutes to help stay safe and
healthy while gardening.

Put on protective gear as needed,
including safety goggles, sturdy
shoes, long pants, gloves, insect
repellent, and sun screen with
sun protective factor (SPF) 15 or
higher.
 If you’re outside in hot weather
for most of the day you’ll need
to make an effort to drink more
fluids.
Make sure your tetanus/diphtheria
(Td) vaccination is up-to-date. If it’s
not, call your health provider to
make an appointment to get it.” (http://
