I am delighted to announce that eight Hastings High School students have been named
commended students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended students scored
in the top 5% of all students who sat for the PSAT test in the fall of 2015. The Commended

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:
Individual parent conferences with teachers will be held on the following dates and times:

Individual conferences will be 5-minutes in length. Please alternate times when making your
schedule to allow for travel between rooms. This year the high school will, once again, utilize an
online reservation system for arranging conferences. This site will be available beginning

The Hastings High School Yearbook staff is now accepting orders for the 2017 yearbook.
Order before December 1, 2016 for a discounted price of $75.00. The cost will increase to
$85.00 thereafter. Simply go to yearbookordercenter.com and enter code # 4083 to order.
Halloween is approaching. Dangerous and foolish pranks can cause serious injury in addition to
property damage. I urge you to monitor you child’s activities around the time of Halloween.
The first marking period will end November 16, 2016. Report cards should be available on the
parent portal on or about November 21, 2016. Any concerns or questions should be directed to
your child’s guidance counselor at 478-6260. Also, National Honor Society tutoring is
underway. Tutoring takes place in the library every Thursday evening between 7:00 and 9:00
p.m. A complete schedule can be found on the high school website.
The winter season is approaching. School closings and/or delays will be announced via our
Home Calling System.
