Employment Opportunity LIGHT DUTY CLEANER – PART TIME Sony Centre for the Performing Arts Toronto, Canada The Sony Centre is seeking to add one position in the maintenance department for the position of a Light Duty Cleaner. The maintenance staff at the Centre are members of the Service Employees International Union, Local 2 (SEIU – local 2). The successful candidate will be required to join SEIU. All maintenance staff report to the Associate Director, Facilities and System Services. Duties include, but are not limited to, general cleaning and maintenance duties. The candidates must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds. This is an hourly, part time unionized position working a variable schedule, which includes nights, weekends and holidays as required by the Centre’s performance and events schedule. Organization Description The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, with a capacity of 3,191 seats, is the largest proscenium theatre in Canada. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, the Centre programs artists to provide entertainment for the diversity of population that makes up this international city. Seasons are programmed through a combination of Sony Centre presentations, of copresentations with local promoters from different communities and of rentals. The season includes music, dance, comedy, musical theatre, children’s theatre, circus and a broad variety of popular entertainment. It is usual for artists from North America, Europe, Asia and South Asia to be represented in each season. Some presentations may be entirely in the language of origin. The Centre operates its own box office and group sales (Archtics) and works with Ticketmaster Canada Ltd. for its internet, telephone and outlet sales. The Centre is recognized throughout Canada as an industry leader in both customer and client service. In addition to servicing promoters, client service includes the organization and execution of social and corporate events which augment the Centre’s annual activity.
