Please use your new recycling containers provided When your supply of liners is running low, simply tie an unused liner to the handle of the outdoor caddy on your normal collection day. It must not contain any materials that can be recycled Your outdoor food waste caddy will be collected EVERY WEEK Top tip The average household uses between 2 to 3 liners per week 1 Put one of the free liners into your indoor caddy 2 Put all cooked and uncooked food waste into your indoor caddy YES 3 6 4 Breads, cakes and pastries 4 Eggs - including shells 4 Fish - including bones, skin and shells 4 Fruit and vegetables - cooked and raw, including cores and peelings 4 Meat - including fat, skin and bones 3 When the liner is almost full, tie and remove it from the indoor caddy and replace with a new liner 4 Pet food - wet and dry 4 Rice, pasta and beans 4 Tea bags and coffee grounds 4 Cooking oil, lard and other fats - cool before transferring to your indoor caddy 4 Place the full liner in your outdoor caddy 5 Place your outdoor caddy at your normal collection point by 6.30am on your collection day. Top tip Take your excess garden waste to your nearest Recycling Centre where it will be recycled, and you can collect your free Compost To Go at the same time 13 Green Bin General waste container for materials that cannot be recycled Your green bin will be collected EVERY TWO WEEKS. Check your calendar for dates Transforming East Ayrshire Your enhanced recycling service is part of East Ayrshire Council’s Transformation Strategy for waste which allows you to recycle a wide range of materials at home. When fully introduced across East Ayrshire (by Autumn 2014) there will be very little waste that cannot be recycled from home. Therefore, from April 2015, East Ayrshire Council will introduce an extended collection service for your general waste container, which means that your green bin will no longer be collected every two weeks. Details to follow during 2014/15 1 Please collect your materials that cannot be recycled and place in the green bin 2 Place your green 3 We will collect bin at your normal collection point by 6.30am it every two weeks on your collection day 14 • If you receive a pull-out service at the moment this will continue • Additional recycling containers are available free of charge Top tip If you do not have a green bin please use the supplied lilac sacks instead We’re here to help • Excess recycling can be presented on your usual 3 Use the right bin The green bin must not contain any materials that can be recycled collection day, e.g. flatten large cardboard and place next to blue bin, bag mixed plastics and place next to red box etc. • You can collect your free Compost To Go at your local recycling centre 15 What happens to the materials I recycle? The materials we collect from your recycling containers and bags are taken to special processing plants where they are recycled and turned into valuable new resources. Your food waste is taken to a special processing plant where it is recycled and turned into valuable resources such as agricultural fertiliser and energy.
