Summarizing– Writing a summary for FICTION
Your summary should include the following:
Someone
Who is the main character?
When writing or looking at a summary for fiction,
use this list to the left side like a checklist.
Wanted
If the summary has all 5 of these pieces, it’s on its
way to being a great summary.
What did the character want?
But
Lastly, before choosing your answer or completing
your summary, make sure the following are true:
What was the problem?


So

How did the character try to solve the
problem?
It does NOT have any opinions
It does NOT have any minor unimportant
details
It SHOULD have the beginning, middle, and
end of the story if it follows SWBST
Then
What was the resolution to the problem?
