SETTINGS
1. How do I change the language?
a. Click on ‘Settings’
b. Select the country
c. Select a language (if more than one is available)
2. Why does the content download / update take so long?
a. The app downloads the content from the middle layer as specified by the user
(country / language)
b. This process can take up to several minutes depending on the speed of the
network connection
c. If the app closes or crashes during this process, please try to restart the app
from the home screen of your device.
3. Why should I login into the app?
a. Logging in allows you to see internal news and documents within the app, that are otherwise
hidden for external users
b. It also allows you to synchronize private portfolios between different devices which have ABB
Connect installed. These portfolios may contain selected products and documents which can
be presented to a client in the form of a presentation
FUNCTIONALITIES
4. How do I get additional information for a product?
a. The expanded ‘Action Area’ can be opened and closed by taping on the white
arrow
b. You may choose from several options in the action area. One of which is being
able to download documents from the ABB Library
c. The types of documents available are: catalogs, brochures, videos, case studies
and a variety of other documents
5. How do I search for information/find product info?
a. Open the Search icon to open the Search Page
b. The Search Page allows the user to search for products or documents
c. Full Text Search allows users to search for products and documents based on a keyword
or phrase. Products are sorted by category
d. Documents may also be filtered by language in using a language different than English.
6. How to find the correct information on product ID level?
a. Click on the ‘online product data’ button within the ‘Action Area’.
b. PIS browser allows users to view online product data within the application and
filter them by attributes and characteristics in order to find the right product
7. How do I create/add content to a portfolio?
a. To start with the creation of a portfolio tap on the ‘Add new portfolio’ tile
b. Once tapped, the portfolio is automatically created
c. You may edit the title and subtitle of the portfolio
d. Once created you may start adding products and documents to your portfolio
e. When adding something to “My selection” all the portfolios you have created will be listed
f. Tap on a portfolio in order to add content
8. Why do I see portfolios that I have not created myself?
a. Pre-loaded portfolios are portfolios that will be available to all users in a defined
country after downloading the application
b. Only super users are allowed to create pre-loaded portfolios
c. If you would like to add a pre-loaded portfolio for your country please get in
touch with your local super user
9. How do I sync my portfolios between different devices
(windows/android/iPad)?
a. You may want to use the ABB Connect App on several devices therefore the
app has the possibility of synchronizing portfolios between devices
b. First you must log into the app with ABB credentials by entering your user
name and password
c. Once logged in, create a portfolio. Portfolios that are created while you are logged
in will be saved to your account and synced whenever you log in on another
device
d. Push the ‘update button’ to sync your portfolios manually
10. Can I save documents locally on my device? /
Can I view documents/videos without internet connection?
a. By adding products to the ‘Portfolios’ or ‘Favorites’ section you will be able
to view them without being online
11. How can I share a product page/brochure/catalog/video?
a. The app gives the user the possibility of sharing categories, products, videos and
documents
b. Open the page/file that you would like to share
c. To share product info or documents, tap on the share tile within the ‘action area’
d. The app will prompt you to enter the recipient’s email that you wish to share this
product info/video/document with
12. What is the difference between ‘My favorites’ and ‘Key
documents’?
a. The product page or document may be stored in folders which enable easy
access at any time without having to search the app for a product/document again
b. My favorites: Use this folder in order to have easy access to your favorite files
c. Key documents: This section contains global or country specific documents visible
for all users in a certain country and are defined by local Marketing team
d. To upload a document to the ‘Key documents’ please get in touch with your local super user
UPDATES / NEW REQUIREMENTS
13. Do I need to do updates (new release) manually?
iPad version
a. If you always want to have the latest version you should set your device
to auto updates from the Apple Store
b. The new release will be pushed automatically
c. The update will happen in the background
d. If a pop-up appears on your iPad asking you to update/re-install the app,
please accept the request
Windows version
a. You need to download the new version from ABB library
b. The windows version is available on our LP inside portal - ABB Connect or you can use
install directly here
c.
Please get in touch with your local IS if you have problems during installation
14. How do I do a content update?
a. The ‘update content’ button is not selectable unless the app detects there is
new content. If there is new content to be downloaded the button will be
highlighted and selectable
b. The ‘Update now’ button within the Settings section will prompt the app
to check and download any new content available (needed if you would like
to sync portfolios)
c. Please note that you need to have a (wireless) connection to update content
15. Where can I view upcoming functionalities / report
requirements?
a. To view an overview about planned functionalities please go to our LP inside portal - ABB
Connect
b. Please get in touch with your local super user to report requirements
16. Can I add links or apps to the Tools section?
a. The tools page offers a variety of links to ABB tools
b. If you would like to add links or apps to the Tools section
please get in touch with your local super user
17. What to do if local Events or News are missing?
a. All news that are uploaded to the newsbank are automatically shown
within the News section
b. The event calendar is done by local corp coms, your local marcom is in
charge to update on a regular basis
c. If you are missing any news or events please get in touch with your local super user

18. How can I give feedback / ask for new features?
a. Please get in touch with your local super user if you would like to share feedback or discuss
new functionalities and features
SERVICE/TROUBLESHOOTING
19. What do I do if the app is not working properly?
a. If you are having any issues using the app there is an option of contacting the
support group
b. Tap on the Contact support tile within the Settings section to send an email
to the support group
c. The app will prompt you to enter the details of your problem in the email.
Please always specify if you are using iOS, Android or Windows version. Tap
Send to complete the support request
20. Why are some of the videos not playing using the iPad version?
a. Currently the application only supports mp4 and formats normally visible on iOS devices. If
any video is missing or you receive an error playing them, please contact your local super
user
