ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC WORSHIP OF GOD HYMNS God Calls Us To Give And Serve God’s Tithe and Our Offering May 7, 2017 Morning Worship 10:00 a.m. Welcome I Would Rather Have Jesus Mr. Peter Rosenberger Call To Worship *Hymn *Affirmation of Faith The Apostle’s Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. But I know in whom I have believed; And I know whose grace I have received, And I know that He will keep me safe with him Until the day He comes again. General Prayer of Confession Our gracious Heavenly Father, please forgive us of our many sins. We regret that we have broken Your law and grieved Your Spirit. We are sorry that we have so often done that which appears to be right in our own eyes. Wash us in the blood of Christ; remove our iniquity as far as the east is from the west; renew a right spirit within us, and grant us everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Savior , Amen. He will keep that which I’ve committed unto Him against that day! *Presentation of Gifts Jesus Shall Reign Let every creature rise and bring peculiar honors to our King; Angels descend with songs again, and earth repeat the loud amen! (Children ages 4-5 may be dismissed to Kinder Church, room #38.) *Prayer of Dedication Assurance of Forgiveness Prayer for Illumination (Please see insert) O how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust His cleansing blood; Just in simple faith to plunge me ‘neath the healing, cleansing flood! I’m so glad I learned to trust thee, precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; And I know that thou art with me, will be with me to the end. Be Thou My Vision Gospel Lesson Matthew 11:20-30 All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father, I thy true son; Thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one. Sermon Be Thou my battle shield, sword for the fight; Be thou my dignity, Thou my delight; Thou my soul’s shelter, Thou my high tow’r: Raise thou me heav’nward, O Pow’r of my pow’r. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at his word; Just to rest upon His promise; just to know, “thus saith the Lord.” Yes, ‘tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to cease; Just from Jesus simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace.
