You will be on a team that will help you become a legendary Trainer. So do you think you have what it takes? In this chapter are eight challenges that can help you prepare for your first opening. Some will be easier than others, but they will prepare you for a great experience. The biggest difference between new-store training and in-store training are that with a new store, you are training multiple Roadies at one time and will need to speak in front of a large group of people. Are you nervous now? Prepare and do an Alley Rally and it can help you before you go to your opening. Here are some tips to help you shine during your Alley Rally debut: Alley Rallies are two minutes or less – 75% Fun, 25% Information – so make sure you plan them that way. …All with Purpose C. Whether you will be training Broil or Host, this is a great time to work the position for a minimum of four shifts before traveling to the new store. This will help you review recipes, specs, and to fine-tune your legendary skills. Some Challenge tips to make this happen: 1. T alk with your Managers to make sure you are scheduled for the position. 2. Review the Trainer Guide you created in Challenge 1 daily. 3. Review recipes, spec cards, quizzes, study guides, and Texas Today every day while on the position. 4. Take all tests for the position and score 100%. 5. If you are a BOH Trainer, validate in your position’s Taste & Temp. 6. If you are an FOH Trainer, you must validate with the menu and be able to train multiple people in POS. 7. Ask for daily feedback from your Managers, PC, or TM. 8. Be revalidated by Manager, PC, or TM. CHALLENGE 7: TRAIN A PERSON PRIOR TO THE OPENING Number 6 was a huge Challenge, but doesn’t it feel great to have it completed? Your next Challenge will put your knowledge and training skills to the test. Challenge 7 is to train someone on the position you will be working at the opening. Some Challenge tips to make this happen: 1. T alk with your Managers and TC about the training schedule. 2. Follow the training program set in place for trainee. 3. Complete daily classrooms. 4. Review quizzes with trainee. 5. Be a part of the trainee’s validation. 6. Ask for feedback from trainee, TC, and Managers. 9 CHALLENGE 8: VALIDATE IN MENU AND POS Now that you are an expert in your position and have refreshed your training skills by training a person, it’s time to become an expert in a few more areas. These two areas are critical but not limited to only the FOH. Below is a guide of what you will need to know, including BOH Trainer’s knowledge. All Trainers must be menu experts and your POS knowledge will differ between FOH and BOH. To complete the Challenge, you must be validated by a TC or Manager.
