Initiative Update:
Devised Theatre Events:
In addition to inviting colleges and university to bring prepared works to festival, Region
VIII hosted three professional devising artists to work hands-on with students during the
festival in the creation of an original theatre piece. The devised theatre piece were
presented on the last day of the festival, Saturday, February 16 at the Los Angeles
Theatre Center in Theatre 3 between 2:00 and 4:30pm.
Irene Ryans: The
preliminary
rounds
were
presented
in
one
day
with
two
rooms.
32
semi‐finals
were
selected
in
each
room
so
the
semi‐final
round
had
64
participants.
National
Critics
Institute/Theatre
Journalism:
The
workshop
was
presented
by
two
theatre
journalist
who
have
a
web
presence.
This
appears
to
have
dramatically
increased
the
involvement
of
students.
Professional
Expo:
The
was
the
second
year
for
this
event.
This
is
an
opportunity
to
talk
directly
with
representatives
of
professional
organization
associated
to
film
and
theatre.
We
have
more
interaction
with
students
but
we
need
find
a
better
way
of
informing
the
students.
