Your Pencil Box
• Your pencil box is property of RMS library. You need to take
care of this box and its contents. If you break or misplace this
box, you will be responsible for replacing your pencil box.
• You have 5 pencils, 2 high lighters, 1 pink eraser, and a pack of
Post-It Notes in your pencil box.
• You will only get 5 pencils each week.
• It is YOUR responsibility to keep up with your 5 pencils.
• Every time you use a pencil or high lighter, put it back in your
pencil box when you are finished.
• Pencil boxes will be dispersed at the beginning of class and
collected at the end of class.
• Pencil boxes will stay in the library at all times.

FRIDAYS
• On Fridays before leaving class, you will turn in
your pencil box with your 5 pencils, 2 high
lighters and your eraser to be sharpened and
sanitized.
• If all 5 pencils, 2 high lighters, and eraser are in
your box AND are in good shape, you will earn a
prize!
• Good Shape means: No teeth marks (ewww)
No erasers ripped off
No broken pencils
No scraped pencils

MONDAYS
• On Mondays, your pencil box will be returned to
you with 5 freshly sharpened pencils. Pencils will
also be cleaned and sanitized ready for another
fantastic week of learning!
• Your grade for keeping your pencil box in order
will be recorded.

What If…
• I lose a pencil and can’t find it?
• The pencil will be replaced, but you won’t earn a prize.
• You will lose the privilege of receiving an easy 100 as a
grade.
• If you continuously lose pencils, you will be responsible for
replacing pencils for your box.
• If I need pencil sharpened during the week?
• You have 5 pencils to last you all week. Use them carefully
and take care of them!
• You will have to provide your own writing utensil if you
break all 5 pencils before Friday.

What If…
• What if I am absent on a Friday?
• If all of your materials are in your box on Friday, it
will be YOUR responsibility to remind me to record
your grade and get your prize on your first day back
to school (not the second, or the third!).

• You, as a class, will be responsible for
documenting this information.
• During the quarter you are enrolled in library,
we will have a grading period competition.

• We will not waste learning time dealing with
pencil (or eraser...or highlighter...) issues. PERIOD!
