Anthony Forest and Boise Cascade of Houston, TX worked together to donate lumber, Power Beams® and Power Preserved Glulam® beams for the home. “The Lone Survivor Foundation (LSF) is committed to providing support to service members and veterans struggling with invisible injuries such as combat trauma stress, mild traumatic brain injury, chronic pain management and military sexual trauma. These painful injuries have devastating effects on the individual as well as their family. LSF’s goal is to support both the individual and the family through education, coping skills and reducing their symptoms of stress. To that end, LSF conducts retreats throughout the year with a focus on wellness and therapeutic support,” as stated on the LSF website. “We were quite honored to be a small part of a wonderful retreat home for our military families,” said Kerlin Drake, VP of Marketing. Brint Construction was the general contractor on the project that requested a donation from Anthony Forest. Aran and Franklin Engineering, Inc was the structural engineering firm that specified Anthony Power Beam® and Power Preserved Glulam® on the blueprints for the first home. LSF and Brint Construction have done a great job pulling this all together. We are glad our military families have a retreat that provides much needed support services. The Agape House Children’s Home is a non-profit organization located in El Dorado, Arkansas which is building foster homes for children. El Dorado and Union County have 550 children annually who are unable to live in their homes due to abuse, neglect or other life events. The Agape House Children’s Home plans to build five houses. The first house, The Alexander House, will serve approximately 50 children annually. The Agape House held a “House Raising” event on June 27, 2015. The event was all volunteer labor and they were able to frame up the walls. Anthony Forest donated two units of #2, 2 x 4 x 18’ lumber. This donation was used for studs in the wall construction, which saved them nearly $2,000 in material costs. “We were delighted to be contacted by Agape House about making a donation of material that they could use for the construction of their first house. I want to applaud our lumber sales manager, Russ Kimbell, and our office manager at Urbana, Susan Chenos, for making this happen so quickly,” Jay Brooks, Sales Representative of Engineered Wood Products, said. Prior to working at Anthony Forest Products, Linda worked for Lion Oil Company and Systems Contracting Corporation supporting information systems. Under Linda’s leadership, the IT department kept Anthony Forest up to date with the latest technology, including hosted email, hosted ERP, biometric time clocks, multiple server upgrades, and the implementation of our current Lumber Track ERP Systems. She also helped Anthony Forest to maintain a reliable network infrastructure, coordinating the installation of fiber optics at several locations, and more reliable circuits, connecting all of our locations. Linda might say the IT support job is “out of sight out of mind”, but, hidden in the background of every employee’s job, she was able to provide support to keep the data flowing dependably and consistently. Ronnie Clay and Linda Landes When asked what she enjoyed most about her time with Anthony Forest, she had this to say, “Anthony Forest gave me a wonderful opportunity for growth in my field and allowed our department to do cutting edge technology that most companies this size do not experience. Ronnie Clay’s leadership, Ricky Turner’s “out of the box” thinking, and Jonna Stinson’s attention to detail and knowledge of the ERP system, made me look smarter than I am. I will ever be grateful for the Anthony Family and my fellow employees and the experiences over these past ten years.” Jonna Stinson, Linda Landes and Ricky Turner Fellow employees gathered to wish Linda congratulations and best wishes with a luncheon held in her honor on her last day, May 29, 2015. As tokens of appreciation for her 10 years of service, Linda was presented with an hour glass, and a matted and framed Anthony Forest photograph signed by all her coworkers as well as the Board of Directors. We will miss seeing her at the Central Office, but we wish Linda only the best in her retirement. © Anthony Forest Products Company 6/2015 2015 GRADUATES 5 Jordan Hollis Anthony Jordan Hollis Anthony is a May 2015 graduate, cum laude, from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
