What type of camps are these?
Our summer camps are hands-on history summer day camps.
What is camp registration procedure?
You make your registration fee payment on EventBrite. Then, you will receive an email
with a password to a portal to complete camp forms.
What are camp hours?
Camp is Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Drop-off begins daily at 8:15 am.
Pick-up is at 4 pm. Due to heavy DC traffic, there is a grace period until 4:30 pm. There
is a $15 charge for any time after 4:30 pm. We do encourage prompt pick-up at 4 pm.
Will my child need to bring a lunch?
Yes, your child will need a healthy lunch and water bottle daily. You may pack extra food
for snacks, although a healthy snack will be provided each morning and afternoon.

Where do activities take place?
Activities take place at the DAR Museum, which is part of the National Society of
Daughters of the American Revolution, 1776 D St NW, Washington, DC. Activities will
be both inside and outside daily, weather permitting. We may have some offsite activities, like to a nearby park or at local museums.
Where do I drop-off my child?
Drop-off and pick-up are curbside on D Street between 17th and 18th Streets. Procedural information will be forthcoming later this spring.
Who will work with my child during camp?
DAR Museum educators will work with your child. Biographies will be supplied in a
future email.
What is the educator to child ratio during camp?
The ratio is 1 to 5 or one educator for every five children.
How many children are in each camp?
There are 15 children in each camp session.
How will my child travel during a field trip?
Your child will travel either on foot, by Metro rail, or by rental bus.
May my child bring a cellular phone or electronics?
Yes, your child may bring a phone and electronics, but DAR Museum staff members are
not responsible for any loss or theft of personal items.

May my out-of-state child attend Time Travelers Camp 2015?
We have children from many states. Please note this is a day camp, so your child will
need to stay with you, a relative, or a friend for the week. We require, however, that a
parent or guardian complete all camp forms.
Is there a cancelation policy?
Cancelation notice must be in writing by email. Notice of cancelation one month prior to
camp will receive a full refund. Two weeks prior, 50%. Less than two weeks, no refund.
Can I write off summer camp as a daycare tax expense?
You will receive a receipt from EventBrite for camp payment which you can use as a receipt. We suggest you consult IRS guidelines for more information on this topic.
What age must my child be to attend camp?
Your child must be 9 years of age by July 13, 2015, to attend Time Travelers Camp and
11 years of age by August 3, 2015, to attend From Fiber to Fabric.
Can my child bring a pet to camp?
No, pets are not allowed. The only animals allowed during camp are service animals.
Can my child bring a friend or sibling to camp one day?
Only registered campers may attend summer camp.
