2015 APPLICATION
The “547” John E. McGlamry Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at the North Georgia Community Foundation in
2012 to honor the life and career of Georgia State Trooper John E. McGlamry. Trooper McGlamry served the State of
Georgia for 25 years and did so with unwavering principles. As such, he left a lasting impact on the communities he
served, his peers, and his family.
A $1,000 award is available for graduating high school seniors who are the children of active or retired Georgia State
Troopers planning to enroll at an accredited U.S. college or university as a full-time student in fall 2015.

ESSAY
“Wisdom, justice and moderation” has been the motto of the Georgia State Patrol since its inception in 1937. In an essay,
no longer than two pages (double spaced), discuss what wisdom, justice and moderation mean to you and either how a
role model of yours displays these principals or how you apply these principles to your own life. Please make sure your
name appears in the upper section of your essay.
To be considered eligible, return the following documents in one packet to the North Georgia Community
Foundation.
a) Completed application
b) Typed essay (no more than two pages) as outlined in Section VI
c) Official transcript of grades through the most recent term
