II) Povinně volitelný předmět Kulturněhistorický přehled Notes: Students will have about 7 minutes to answer the American realia question and 7 minutes to answer the British realia question. Take this into consideration when preparing for the exam. Obviously, students will have time to discuss only a few points, so they should carefully choose the most important points to discuss, and do so in a logical order. Students will be evaluated according to how well they demonstrate that they understand the facts they are discussing. Good answers will include examples which help explain and illustrate the main points. State Final Exam Questions on British Realia 1. Victorian Age in Britain. Discuss the main characteristics of the era, including the structure of Victorian society, the major political trends, Britain’s industrial growth, the social life of the Victorians and the rise of the British Empire. Compare the Victorian period with the current situation. 2. The British political system. Discuss the main features of the political system in Britain, including the monarchy, the major political parties, the structure and role of the Parliament, the structure and role of the Cabinet and the powers of the Prime Minister. Comment on the crisis of the voters’s trust in their political representation. 3. The character and structure of British society.
