IT WENT LIKE
A DREAM
By Jake Eamens And Evie Bell
Pizza for tea...
Eating together is fun..
THE school had its first ever sleepover last term and everyone agreed it
was a huge hit.
Dozens of excited children stayed the night in a classroom along with
headteacher Miss Robinson, Miss Weddell, Mrs Hutchinson and Miss
Johnson.
They snuggled down in the resources room in sleeping bags with their
teddy bears for a cosy night’s sleep.
“We only talked until the teachers got into their sleeping bags and then we
went to sleep,” said Evie. “It was great fun and no one was homesick.”
Outdoor art...
The next morning children had breakfast in the hall in their pyjamas and
watched a film.
The special night began with outdoor play time. There was cricket, an
obstacle course and painting.
The children ate pasta, pizza, and chocolate cake for tea. They played
board games and then watched the film Alvin and the Chipmunks.
“It was fantastic fun, “ said Miss Weddell.

Mystery Camper
Pitches Up Tent
At First School
AROUND THE WORLD
IN 55 DAYS AND A BIT
By Bonnie Paul
Class 2 and 3 travelled round the world in their classroom this term exploring
different countries and cultures.
They looked at Africa and designed a batik pattern on cloth using a flour mixture.
They compared city and village life in India and made snakes and lanterns as part
of learning about Chinese new Year celebrations.
By David Stevens
IT was an ordinary day at
Belford First School when
Robbie Burns and Bonnie Paul
shouted “Look a tent!” which
made the entire class 3 curious.
Class 3 wondered who had
abandoned this hidden,
miniscule tent.
Bradley Sutherland-Loveday
said: “I think there will be
more tents appearing around
Belford.”
Reuben Lindsay believes that
the camper is Indian or
someone who has recently
been to that area, because there
was a textbook of all the cool
places to go in different parts
of India
There will have to be more
Investigation on this mystery.
The strange thing is the items
are all based on Belford First
Schools topic and what class 3
are now learning about.
There were Indian clothes,
spices, curry powder, music,
bindi marks, photos, travel
guide, sleeping bag, flip flops
and coffee.
Class 3 are still investigating
now.

SCRUM ON DOWN FOR FITNESS
By Robbie Burn, Charlie Sutherland, Guy Comber, Oliver Miller and Charlie Elliott
RUGBY is a big hit in the school and everyone enjoys the weekly training.
Dougie Hall, a Berwick Rugby Club coach, is training class 2 and 3 every week and they are
improving fast.
“We are a very, very lucky place,” said Robbie.
“It is getting us a lot fitter. It’s fun for all ages because of the brilliant games like
stuck- in- the- mud, “ said Oliver
“First of all we play toilet-tig. After we have played those fantastic games we put belts over
us. Then we put tags on. There are two poles and you have to go through them and there is a
person and they have to get a tag off you. If you lose a tag you are out,” said Charlie.
The school will start football afterschool club after the Easter holidays.
“We are really looking forward to doing a new sport,” said Charlie. “We like rugby and
football at our school.”

THE school celebrated World Book Week with poetry, a rap
competition, lots of reading and crafts and fancy dress.
Reading week began with a special assembly. The poet Jeff Price
came to read to the children and talk about his work.
Mr Price then worked with Class 3 on their own rap poems for a
competition.

made models of rockets.
Class 2 looked at Julia Donaldson’s The Gruffalo. They made a
Gruffalo cake and wrote their own story.
On World Book Day itself the children dressed as storybook characters and enjoyed a day of reading. Parents were invited to come
along and read with their child.

ONESIE TO REMEMBER
By Charlie Sutherland and Mollie Watts
THERE were onesies everywhere on Red Nose Day and the fun outfits helped raise more
than £120 for the appeal.
Everyone came to school dressed up, some in fancy dress and some wearing their own
clothes, with red noses on to help raise money for the charity.
“Some children wore their onesies,” said Charlie, “They looked really funny, it was great fun.
“We had some fantastic fancy dress outfits too. ”
On the Wednesday beforehand all the classes made cakes and biscuits to sell to raise money
at the bingo evening on the Thursday. Parents came in to help with the baking and were later
treated to a French lesson by class 3.
Bingo after school on Thursday was well attended by children and parents. Mr Gassner
called the numbers and boxes of chocolates and cakes were prizes.
Any cakes and biscuits that were left over were sold in the school playground the next morning. “They were yummy!” said Charlie and Mollie, “Everyone gave a donation for their tasty
treat.”
Trips of the Term
My Long Weekend in London
By Livia Duncan
I arrived just after lunchtime at Kings Cross station and then
we took a Tube to Wimbledon. We had a late lunch at my
favourite café Ponti's. After that we looked at some shops and
had more delicious food. When it got dark we took a bus to
our hotel. The hotel was very nice.
The next day we went to Chessington World of Adventures. It
was a cold day but we had lots of fun on all the different rides.
My favourite ride was the Vampire Ride. Some rides were
very scary but lots of fun. We watched a sea-lion show and after I went with my Dad to see all the
animals in the zoo. We left just in time before the rain started.
On Saturday I met my best friend Jessica. We have known each other since we were babies. We had
lots of fun playing together and lots to talk about. We also went to the Natural History Museum to see
the huge blue whale and all the other animals. I loved all the diamonds and gemstones in the
museum. We wanted to see the dinosaurs but there was an enormous queue.
On Sunday we had a long trip back home. The journey seemed to go on and on for ever and I missed
my friend very much. I can't wait to go back to London again.

My Cute Kittens
By Guy Comber
I have four kittens called Tigger, Tilly, Buster and Sophie. Tigger and
Sophie are brother and sister and are one year old, Buster and Tilly
are two years old.
I love to play with my kittens. I tease them with bits of straw which
they like to pounce on and I also like to pick them up but Buster does
not like me doing that and he tries to scratch me!
They all live in a warm shed on the farm which has straw in for them to
sleep on but their favourite place to play is next to the sheep shed.
There are lots of logs for them to play on and areas for them to go in
and out of.
My Grandpa has lots of mouse traps down in his house so there are no
mice left for my kittens to catch therefore I have to feed them with
tinned meat instead.
