November Newsletter

Miss Cameron’s Classroom Newsletter
Within the blink of an eye we are now into
November and before we know it… it will be
Christmas!
As you all know it has been a crazy month! The
kids have worked hard at practicing for not one
but two assembly performances. We have a
bunch of superstars on our hands!
I have managed to contact all parents and set
up a time for Student-Led conferences on
November 14th. I know the kids are excited to
show you what we have been learning. I hope to
see you all there 
Just a reminder as the snow starts to creep its
way in that students are required to have a pair
of inside and outside shoes at school. I have
some children who have only one pair at the
school or would much rather wear their pretty
gym shoes outside rather than their winter
boots. Thanks for sending warm clothes and
boots! 
If you have any questions or concerns that you
would like to talk to me about I am more than
willing to accommodate a time where we can
meet. My school email is checked regularly
please feel free to email me or call me at the
school.
Read Around the World
I absolutely love how excited the kids are to hand
in their reading logs and have me tally the
minutes. As this is the first time I have ran this
program I am working out kinks. I would like to
change how often reading logs are handed in.
This will help conserve some paper and give me
the weekend to tally up and update students’
charts. I would like to have reading logs handed
in every 2 weeks on the Friday. Keep up the great
reading. We have read over 27 000 minutes as a
class 
Extra Practice!
Attached to the newsletter are a few worksheets.
We are just starting our 2 digit addition with
regrouping. The kids are doing great! I have
attached a few worksheets to go over the math
concepts we have been working on. We are also
continuing to work on our number awareness of
numbers up to 1000.

Thanks to the parents who came out and
volunteered for the Halloween Party. I appreciated
your help getting everything ready and helping get
the kids ready for the costume parade. Also thank
you to the parents who supplied snacks this time
around! We had a great variety! Everything looked
and tasted amazing! I will be looking forward to the
Valentine Party. If you ever want to volunteer just
give me a heads up and I will count you in 
I just want to thank all of the parents and guardians
of 3C. I appreciate your time you spend at home
finishing assignments, reading, tallying reading
minutes, replying to journals and reviewing and
helping your child. I know the list is longer but I just
wanted to say thanks as it makes a huge difference
in the classroom.

Reading at the Right Level
I have been sending home a book with the students
each week to practice. These books are to be read
and practiced a number of times. The books I send
home with each student will be at their just right
reading level. Student’s will have a week to practice
the book before returning to class and reading parts
of it with me again.
I will try to send out a book every week. However
sometimes it may work out to every other week a
book gets sent home. If you would like additional
books to be sent home please contact me and we
can arrange something at that time  There are lots
of books on Raz-Kids for the children to read as
well. I will add a link to this site on my class
website.
It is a good way to bond with your child and
Math
1. Students need to be proficient in
immediate recall of addition and
subtraction facts to 18. This means no
fingers, mental math and quick. You can do
this while driving or walking or on
commercial breaks. For example 3+5, 8+7,
4+12 etc. Please practice these quick facts
with your children.
2. Play a game of boom with your child. Skip
counting is great practice and helps in
many areas of math. The children need lots
of practice with counting by 3’s.
3. Play a game of snap with your child all you
need is a deck of cards. Take out the J,Q,K
and it’s like war but every time you flip a
card over you have to add the two
numbers.
