pital as a result of an automobile ac­
cident on the West Lake road near
Lakewood yesterday.

He was pronounced as improving
last night. He sustained head injuries,
possible concussion and shock.
Glasspoole has a bad cut on thfl
head and is bruised, but is suffering
mostly from shock which has delayed
x-ray examination.

a foreign missionary who has been
visiting at Chautauqua, is also a pa*
tient at the same hospital as a result
of the crash, but her condition is not
considered grave. She is suffering a
head injury, has several cuts about
the face, one deep cut on the chin
and lost several teeth.
The accident involved the light

The program includes an address
by Congressman Mead at 2 p. m., a
softball game between Blead’s team
and an Indian team at 11 a. m,; an
archery contest at 3 and a lacrosse
game at 4:30 p. m. For the baseball
game at 1 o’clock, Derby and Ver­
sailles will meet on the Indian field,
This game was scheduled to be played
at Derby but because of the keen in­
terest in the contest it has been se­
cured for one of the attractions at
the Indian Field Day.
Refreshments will be served on the
grounds and free parking will be pro­

Blrs. Dora A. Griggs, a former res­
ident of Little Valley and mother of
Clarence Griggs of Cumberland, Bid.,
formerly of Salamanca, died Mcrad
at Cumberland, aged 85. She was th
widow of George J. Griggs, former
chief of police at Falconer, who died
in 1923.
Blrs. Griggs, who had lived in For­
estville the past three years, went to
Cumberland three weeks ago to visit
her son. She was a member of the
Little Valley BL E. church and Rebekah lodge.
Two sons and one daughter sur­
vive.

Wellsville, Aug. 24— Blrs. Blary
Armstrong, 4 9 , 'Wellsville, died in
Jones Blemorial hospital from injur­
ies suffered in a motor crash near
Stanards. Blrs. Armstrong suffered
acutely from shock, because o f a
weak heart, and also received a frac­
ture of the right knee cap, numerous
lacerations.
Blrs. Armstrong was a passenger in
a car operated by John Schramm o f
Allentown, which collided with the
rear of a truck operated by Wilfred
Brandes just north of Stanards Wed­
nesday night.
Mr. Schramm is still in the hospital
with injuries suffered in the crash.
Brandes and two companions escaped
with minor injuries.
A rm Severed in A uto Crash
Jamestown, Aug. 24— Harold Lar­
son, 27, of 206 Thayer street, lost his
left arm, severed between the elbow
and shoulder, when a light coach he
drove collided with a sedan operated
by Robert Verner, 20, of Buffalo, on
the East Lake Road about nine miles
from Jamestown shortly after 2
o’clock Sunday morning. Five other
persons were slightly injured in' the
accident. 1
