Vocal Ensemble: There is a vocal ensemble rehearsal today at 1:16!
Archery Club: Any students interested in taking up archery with the ROMS Archery Club please come
to an important information meeting at first recess today in the art room. Sessions start next Thursday
and space is limited so please be prompt.
Chess:
Anyone interested in playing chess at lunch can come to room 130 on Thursday's during the lunch recess.
All students and skill levels are welcome.
Yearbook:
The 2016/2017 ROMS Yearbook is now available for Pre-Order! Yearbooks are 128 full colour pages
with over 2,000 images from athletics, events, and many memories! Last year's book sold out in June so
please be sure you pre-order and guarantee yourself a book delivered directly to your homeroom in
June! The cost of this year's book is $38. Please see Miss Cottier with any questions.
Drawing Club: Will resume next week.
Canteen today: Popcorn on sale at first recess. Popcorn $1.50,
Canteen Thursday: On sale at recess tomorrow -chocolate chip cookies $1.00, smoothies 50 cents,
burritos-$1.00
ROMS SPORTS:
ROMS Clothing Orders:
All students who have not received their clothing order must come by the PE office today at SECOND
recess to pick up their items.
Volleyball: There will be a meeting for all grade 8 girls playing volleyball this season today at morning
recess in the gym. All players must attend.
Practicing tomorrow morning is the grade 6/7 boys competitive team at 7:45 am. All interested players
must attend.
Grade 6 Girls: There will be a meeting in Ms. Espedido's room 220 today at 2 nd recess.
Practices will resume for all competitive teams this week. Please check the ROMS athletic web page for
the practice schedule. Later this week there will be meetings held by Mr. Menzies for all player
interested in playing on recreational teams.

This is the second school day in the 2017 school year! We trust everyone had a is back on track with
having all supplies and PE strip ready to go.
Did you know sponges hold more cold water than hot?
Did you also know your tongue is the fastest healing part of your body?
1) Today's weather calls for mostly sunny skies with high of 2 degrees. The forecast tells us that we
will be having sunny skies tomorrow as well, but with the same cold temperature. Be sure to keep
dressing warm
2) Our PAC group is holding a bottle drive this week Please inform your parents that they can donate
all refundable bottles to the school all this week. Bottles can be dropped off by the caged area near
the wood shop.
3) PE is back in full swing today! Make sure you have your full gym strip
4) The recycle stations are back in full operation. Keep up that recycling initiative! You do make a
difference.
5) Extra curricular Volleyball is in full swing! Keep listening for announcements and watch the web page
for practice times.
6) Today is the day to set your 2017 goals! Goals will make a difference!
7) Reminder that popcorn is on sale;e every Wednesday.

If you know your child will be late or absent please remember to let the school and teachers know ASAP

A great deal of time is spent on making calls to ensure children are safe and accounted for due to
unconfirmed absences. Please clearly state First and Last Name and your child's Teacher or Division .
Our office staff greatly appreciate this.
PAC Review:
PAC Bottle Drive:
There are many ROMS school projects that require PAC funding during the remainder of this school
year. The PAC Is hosting a bottle drive from Jan 3-13 and they need our help. Please collect your
returnable bottles/cans over the next few weeks and then consider donating them to the ROMS PAC to
help support programs in our school.
ROMS Bottle Drive - January 3-13, 2017
Bring in your recyclable bottles between 8:30 am and 3:20 pm drop off at gated area near the sport
courts.
You can also drop off all year at the Bottle depot. Please say
they are for: * ROYAL OAK MIDDLE SCHOOL PAC *
·All Funds raised will go directly to support school programs paid for by the PAC such as the costs of
Home Ec aprons and athletic uniforms, etc.
