proved to be one of the most brilliant documents I have
ever helped write. I have tried to make the other men
understand that the new nation needed a stronger central government to survive. Since I was the only one
who understood what our new government needed to

In 1809, I was sworn in as the 4th president of the Untied States. I was in office
since 1809-1817. My wife and I were the
ones who saved the priceless portrait of
George Washington from the British army. I was nicknamed “Father of the Constitution.” My home state, Virginia,
earned the nickname “Mother of presidents,” because I was the fourth out of
the five presidents born in Virginia. I
went to Princeton University when he
was 18. And I was married to Dolley
Madison .
