Phelps Dodge at Bisbee, Magma
Copper and other underground
mines in Arizona.
E. Drexall Spaulding , resident
manager of the Pima Mining
Company in Tucson, died unexpectedly Monday morning . He had
been manager of the mi ne for
many years.
Funeral services are scheduled fo r 10 a.m. July 3, at All
Saints Lutheran Church, Tucson .

way to a vacation spot in California which would include Di sneyland. Their home is in Utah .
Mr. and Mrs . Edwa rd Perry
and children, Evelyn , Joe and
Johnny, left June 29 for a visit
in Kingfisher and lndionola,Oklahome , where they will vis it relatives of both sides of the family .
They expect to be gone about
three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crawford
returned last Thursday from a
two week vacation stay in Clarion, Pa.
Members of the L.O.S . Stake
Presidency from Flagstaff will
attend services in Bagdad next
Sunday. A potluck dinne r is planned after the services.,
Navyman Don Norvell is spending a leave with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Norve ll in Bagdad, and with r elatives in Colorado. He has completed his Airmen Airplane Mechanic School
in Memphis, and will report to
Beevill, Texas, for the remainder of his enlfstment duty. His
brother, Frank, went with him
on his trip to Colorado. He expects to leave this weekend fo r
his new assignment .

Mrs. Bill Newton, was seriously
injured june 26 in an accident
on the Yolo Rancl;~ , nor th of
Bagdad.
Rex was breaking a
bronc, when the animal reared,
fell over backward and rolled
on the lad. He was flown to Phoenix, where he was admitted to
St. Joseph Hospital. The full extent of his injuries is not known.
Eddie Pe rry escaped . injury
when the car he was driving hit
a cow on the Blac k Canyon Highway about 35 miles noth of Phoenix last Wednesday night. Damage to the car was estimated at
about $400.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Watkins
we re overnight guesrs- of the
Frank Norvells last week . They
had been vacationing in Color ado
and Missouri, and . stopped with
the Norvells on their way back
to their home in OrangevUle,
Calif. Mrs. Watkins is Mrs.Norvell's sister.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray ]ones and
boys will leave Thursday morning
for a vacation in Old Mexico.
They have no set route and no
time schedule, except their return about the 15th. They plan
to see the bull fights in Nogales,
then do whatever their fancy dictates for the balance of their stay
South of the Border.
This Wednesday and Thursday
nights, July 3 and 4, residents ·
of Bagdad and their guests will
be treated to a night at the movies, courtesy of Bagdad Copper
Corporation and Cyprus Mines
Corporation, Old Dick Division.

A double feature program will
be offered, "Stagecoach to Dan-
cer's Rock" , and " Sword of the

short subjects .
