Phantom IV specifications

Blue Planet Marine has
available for long- or shortterm charter, a 19 metre
mono-hull vessel designed
and modified for
environmental research
and monitoring, including:
 Survey vessel
 Marine monitoring
 Marine fauna surveys
 Habitat mapping
 Water quality
monitoring
 Benthic surveys
 Diving operations
 Hydrographic surveys
Phantom has a Certificate
of Operation under NSCV
for operation to 200 nm
and is an Australian
Registered Ship.
RV Phantom IV is set up for research, survey activities and dive operations.
With a large rear deck, certified Hiab, A-frame and deck winch, Phantom is
ideal for the operation of ROVs and other equipment, such as metocean
(meteorological and oceanographic) data collection systems, including wave
and ocean gliders, towed video and drop cameras, benthic sleds and grabs,
CTDs, deployment of water monitoring equipment, moorings, acoustic
monitoring equipment, including noise loggers, and towed arrays.
Reliable and efficient to operate, Phantom can cruise very economically fully
loaded at 10-12 knots (top speed of 16 knots). The 25 m2 of back deck space
can carry a maximum cargo load of 11 tonnes. Phantom has two semi-rigid
hulled inflatables as auxiliary vessels for operation within a 5 nautical mile
radius of the mothership.
Phantom has worked extensively in the oil, gas and resources industry, as well
as with a wide range of organisations conducting environmental research and
monitoring.
Phantom is operated by Blue Planet Marine (BPM). Established in 2002, BPM
is an independent consulting firm that has extensive experience conducting
research and monitoring activities throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia,
Antarctica and the South Pacific. BPM works extensively with the oil, gas and
resources sectors, research organisations, and government. BPM’s excellent
safety record and HSE standards are underpinned by QA systems modelled on:
Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008; the Occupational Health and
Safety Management System AS/NZS 4801:2001; and the Environmental
Management Standard AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004.
