E IT EN ACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in
Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as
follows1. The Short Title of this Act shall be" The Bills of Sale Act
1868" It shall come into operation on the first day of November one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
2. "The Bills of Sale Act 1867 " herein referred to as " the said
Act" and this Act shall so far as is consistent with the tenor of such
Acts be construed together.

3. In any case where the personal chattels comprised in any Bill
of Sale shall at the time of the making or giving of such Bill of Sale
be situate at a place in the Colony not included within any Province
the filing of such Bill of Sale or the copy thereof with the affidavit
required by the said Act shall be effected within such time as in the

Gazette appoint to be the Supreme Court Office for such portion or
district of the Colony to be named or defined in the Proclamation as
includes such place but is not included within any Province and the
Registrar or Deputy Registrar at such office shall be the officer with
whom such Bills of Sale or copies thereof as in this section mentioned
with the necessary affidavit shall be filed.

4. In any case where the personal chattels comprised in any Bill

Sale of such chattels as in this section mentioned or the copy of such
Bill of Sale with the affidavit required by "The Bills of Sale Act 1867" ,
shall be effected at the Supreme Court Office at Hokitika and the
Registrar or Deputy Registrar at such office shall be the officer with
whom such Bill of Sale or chattels as last aforesaid or the copy of such
Bill of Sale with the necessary affidavit shall be filed And it is hereby
declared and enacted that from and after the thirty-first day of
December one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven until the
Supreme Court Offices coming into operation of this Act the said Supreme Court Office at

5. As regards all Bills of Sale made or given after the coming
