Name That Shape! We are surrounded by shapes and therefore we have many opportunities to practice recognizing and drawing shapes in every environment! ! • Make a Gel Bag (Hair gel, food colouring and a ziplock bag) and have your child practice drawing the shape with his/her finger. • Play I-Spy using different shapes instead of colours • Practice drawing the shape in the air with your finger, or in the dark with using a flashlight on the wall. • Put different food objects that are different shapes (example: Oranges, crackers, cubed potatoes) into a bowl and cover it with a towel. Have your child guess what each shape is by feeling in the bowl with his/her hand. No peeking! • Say an object (example: door knob, window, pizza) and have your child guess that shape. • Make a shape bean bag toss by drawing different shapes on a piece of paper or with chalk on the sidewalk. Have your child throw the bean bag at a specific shape. ! Rocky View Occupational Therapists !
