Dear children, let us not love with words
or tongue but with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18
A Message from Mrs. Cummings:
We celebrate St. Valentine this month. St. Valentine is the Patron Saint of engaged couples, happy
marriages, love, and young people. As quoted above by John, actions speak louder than words. We can
speak words very easily, but do our actions show love? May we purposefully take the time this month to
honor St. Valentine and take action to show our love to our spouse, to our children, to our family, and to
those we love.
With love, Mrs. Cummings
Preschool, Prekindergarten, and Kindergarten Registration
We will be holding registration events in March for the upcoming school year. We have already
started receiving phone calls for people interested in registering their children for the 2017-2018
school year. If you would like to register your child now, please call or stop by the office and we will
add your child to our list. We offer: 2 day preschool, 3 day preschool, M-F ½ day prekindergarten
(free due to UPK grant), kindergarten (full day or ½ day for the first 10 weeks), and 1st – 6th grades!
Let us know if you are interested! If your child is attending St. James School next
year, you do not need to go to Gouverneur Central’s informational meetings or
register there. All paperwork is completed at St. James School.

We still have some tickets available now in the school office for $60 each.
Ticket price includes full course meal with appetizers, soup, salad,
main entrée, dessert bar, and one free drink.

NYSDOL conducted an Asbestos audit/inspection at St. James School on November 16, 2016.
These inspections are being conducted randomly throughout NYS. After the audit, SJS had 7 bulk
samples of the soundproofing material on the higher parts of the gymnasium walls collected and
tested by Gymo, DPC, a NYSDOL licensed asbestos contactor. All seven samples were tested and
reported to contain 0% asbestos. There were no other areas identified in the building that were of
concern as hazardous for asbestos. We work with a local environmental company that performs a
yearly asbestos inspection. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Cummings.
