Shout about your day so everyone knows it’s happening What to do with the cash you raise and how to thank everyone who donated Inside you will find posters to display prominently in your workplace so colleagues, and any visitors, can see when, why and how you are raising money. You can download an email template from our website to send to colleagues to let them know well in advance what they need to do. We also have short films on the Jeans for Genes site about some of the 500,000 children in the UK who live with the daily challenges of a genetic disorder. You can post these films online. We’ll show you how to create a JustGiving page. We have also included a donation box inside this pack so visitors to your organisation can donate. All you need to know about how to send the money to us is on the back of this guide. How to raise the most money on the day It’s so simple – ask for a donation in exchange for wearing jeans. He has to be fully bandaged four times a day and is at constant risk of serious infection. If you are using the collection box, ask adults to complete the GiftAid form. We will get an extra 25% from government. These life-changing trips build self-esteem and awareness in young people affected by genetic disorders. 250 £500 pays for a walking frame or other equipment that gives much-needed independence to a child whose mobility is limited by their genetic disorder. 500 1 in 25 30,000 children in the UK is affected by a genetic disorder babies in the UK are newly diagnosed with a genetic disorder every year Jeans for Genes Day is all about raising money to help some of the most vulnerable children in the UK. Here are the types of projects your money could fund. £750 hires an arts company to bring the magical world of drama and music to a special school for children whose conditions mean they could never visit a cinema or theatre. 750 £1,000 contributes towards a specialist nurse who knows everything about a genetic condition. The nurse helps the child during long hospital stays and families who cope at home. 1,000 500,000 6,000+ children in the UK live with a life-altering genetic disorder there are over 6,000 different genetic disorders How to Send in the money you raise By post Please send us your completed Gift Aid form, giro slip and cheque or postal order using the FREEPOST envelope provided. Make all cheques payable to ‘Jeans for Genes’ and write your name, address and supporter number on the back.
