Generosity Activity DEFINITION SCRAMBLE (Game) Write out the definition the children have learned, putting each word on a separate sheet of paper. Mix up the words. Time the class to see how quickly they can assemble the definition in the correct order. Try it again to see if they can do it in less time. Variations: l Give one sheet to each child and arrange the children in the words’ proper order. l Build enthusiasm by timing how quickly the definition can be unscrambled. l Remove one or more sheets and see who can figure out the missing word(s). l Show one word and ask what word pre-cedes and follows it. l Play “concentration,” where a “match” is any two consecutive words. l Scramble all the definitions from previous weeks of study. Instruct the children to place all the words in the right definitions and in the correct order. l Decorate and tape the sheets together to make a “banner” for the classroom. l Use pictures and symbols to help children who can’t read. l Praise the children for effort, attitude, improvement, and teamwork.
