World Religion Part 1

Religion Board Games
Background: Religion was first started to help explain away the problems of everyday life and give people
hope of a higher power, be it good or bad. The first religions were polytheistic and had gods, demons, and
demigods. It took until around 2000 BCE to have the world’s first monotheistic religion. Throughout the years
both the polytheistic and monotheistic religions have truly changed history. Religions have caused many wars,
inspired migration and movement to different parts of the world, dictated what some governments should do,
survived many stereotypes, and now will go one step farther into the world of board games.
Your Task: In order for us to understand what other religions are really about, to see past the multiple
stereotypes, and become diverse citizens in our global world we must take an active role in learning about the
many religions of our world. Is religion a serious subject? YES! Can you have fun with it and still honor the
different beliefs of people all over the world? YES! So here is your challenge…in a group of three you will take
on three different religions and create a fun, yet educational board game. Please be honest and do not choose
your own as I am going to assume you already know a decent amount about your own religion.
The Process:
Step 1:
Judaism
Christianity
Pick three of these 6 religions:
Islam
Buddhism
Hinduism
