SeniorProjectinVisualCommunicationsProblem:Designatheme-basedseriesofvisualand/orword
imagegraphicideas.Thethemecouldbeanyofyourchoosing,i.e.:fear,crime,romance,religion,etc.
Inyourvisualideaexplorationsandsketches,trytomatchagraphicapproachthatcreatesasenseofunity
withaparticularpointofview.Afteryouhavedevelopedanengagingvisualseries,developitfora
particularvisualcommunicationmessageorproduct.Theimagesforthisexhibitionwereprintedusingan
EpsonPlotter.
JaredAnicic,ParodySportsLogos(FactPacks),AdobePhotoshop,InDesign,andIllustrator
FormyprojectIdecidedtomakeparodysportslogos.Itriedtokeepthelogoascloseaspossibletothe
originaldesign.IbasedmyporjectonToppsCardsWackyPackages.Thesewereoldparodystickersof
commonbrands.IdecidedtodosportsteamsbeacuseoftheamountofpassionIhaveforthistopic.After
makingthelogos,Idesignedaboxforthepackstogoin,andnamedthefinalprojectFactPacks.

Thispiecedepictsacomedic,illustrativenarrativeofareluctantcatabouttobegivenabath.It
lightheartedlyshowshowoneofthelessthanidealmomentsinanycatowner’slifemayplayout.Iutilized
non-realisticvisualelements,brightcolors,andvisualexaggerationstoemphasizethecatanditschangein
emotionandmovementsthroughoutthenarrative.Inavisualcommunicationscontext,theseriescould
functionasafragmentofanillustrativebookwhichfocusesondifferentexperiencesmostcatownershave
thepossibilityoffacing.

Thisisaseriesaimedtowardschildren,ideallyintheformofapicturebook.Theimagespresentabrief
sequenceofevents.Itsstoryfocusesonagirlthatencountersafox.Thegirlimmediatelythinksthefoxis
adorableandpicksitup.Thefoxturnsouttobefriendlyandsurprisesherbylickingherface.Thisseries
depictstheideathatfriendscomeinmanyshapesandsizes,andthatyoushouldn'tjudgeabookbyits
cover.However,PLEASE,parents,makesureyourchildrendonotpickupwildanimals.

Thesearefemalecastdesignsforasci-fiRPGgamecalledJukebox.Thestorytakesplaceinafuturistic
setting,wherethemaincharactersaresuperheroes.Eachofthemhavenamesthatarecategorizedbya
musicalgenre.ThecharacterslistedfromlefttorightarePop,Jig,Trance,andthemaincharacter,Jukebox.

ThisvisualseriesisarepresentationoftheissuesandwordsofPresidentTrumpthathaveignitedemotions
andsparkedcontroversy.Theplacementofthetypographyandangledimagerycommunicatesthe
uncertaintyandinstabilitymanypeoplearecurrentlyexperiencing.TrumpCardchallengesustoreflect
uponourcountry`scurrentstateofaffairsandtoaskourselves,“IsPresidentTrumptheExecutiveinChief
ortheMasterofDeceit?”

bethestarsoftheirownmovies.MyhopeisthattheywillappealtoNintendofansofanykind,aswellas
peoplewhohaveapassionfordigitalartwork.

Thiscomicstripgoesinsidethemindofayoungforest-dwellingsquirrelashedaydreamsaboutbecominga
doctor.Itisanillustratedcomicstrip.

AtmosphereJournalisaseriesofmagazinecoversfeaturingamixofportraitsandlandscapes.The
typographyonthecovershastodowithenvironmentalissuesthattheworldfacestoday.Thetypography
relatestotheimagesbecausetheyshowhowhumanscannegativelyaffecttheenvironment.

Thisseriesofworkwascreatedasamobilegameforchildren.Thesimplicityandbrightcolorsattracts
playersandmakesiteasilyunderstandabletotheuser.Theinterfacefunctionswithvisualcontextasit
communicatestotheaudienceinordertobeusedasintended.

IwantedtocreateaserieswhereIcombinedimages,myownsketches,andwritingtoachieveacollage
effect.IconnectedeachpartoftheseriesbymakingthemacollectionofPolaroidphotographs,capturing
themomentsinlifewhenyouwishyourdogwasstillaround.

Formyseniorproject,IwantedtodisplayworkthatnotonlyshowswhatIhavelearnedovermytimeat
Stockton,butalsochallengesmeandforcesmetostepoutofmycomfortzone.Iwillbecreatingan
animatedseriesfollowing“hipsters”livinginBrooklyn,NewYork.Thestorywillfollowdifferentcharacters
astheygothroughthehardshipsoflifeinthecity.Iwanttheshowtohaveabitofadramaticthemetoit,
muchlikeonewouldseeinasoapopera.Thisismoreforcomicreliefandthedramashouldnotbetaken
tooseriously.Willtheyovercomethisobstacle?Orwastheirlovecursedfromthestart?Ifthefirstepisode
translateswell,Iwouldliketocontinueonandcreatemoreepisodesandpostthemonaplatformlike

Theterm“BlackGirlMagic”isveryprominentintheAfricanAmericancommunity.Thetermservesto
promoteappreciationandgoodselfesteemforblackgirlsinsayingthatweareessentially“magic”.I
decidedIwantedtodoaseriesthatshowsthebeautyinblackwomenanddisplaysouruniquefeatures.In
timeslikethesewheresocialmediaandothermainstreamsourcestrytodictatewhatbeautyisandwarps
societies’mindaboutbeauty,Idecidedtodosomethingthatpromotesself-loveandappreciation.Itook
theliteralmeaningof“magic”andincorporateditintoeveryscenealongwithbrightcolorsanddiversity.I
amproudofmyprojectandIhopeyouallenjoy.
