Range of antimicrobial products
Copper In Ancient times, copper, which is endowed
with antiseptic properties, was used for treating
infections and preventing infectious diseases. In
2008, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
officially recognised copper and its alloys as
antimicrobial agents capable of reducing the
proliferation of micro-organisms which are
potentially responsible for infectious diseases.
Strong and durable the abevia® range, made
of solid moulded AB+® brass withstands
intensive use and is the perfect solution for the
budgetary constraints of public projects; it has
very low maintenance and replacement costs.
Design Its « Champagne » colour along with its
polished/satin finish fit in perfectly with most
interior designs.
AB+® antimicrobial copper alloy is a brass which is lead-free,
nickel-free and 100% recyclable. Developed for the healthcare
sector, it has demonstrated an equivalent efficacy to that of pure
copper in control of the micro-organisms development. The
in-vitro tests conducted between 2007 and 2011 have shown its
efficacy even against antibiotic resistant bacteria. After 2 hours,
AB+® wipes out 99% of E coli and S aureus bacteria.
In-situ efficacy In Hôpital Privé Nord Parisien located in
Sarcelles in Val d’Oise (France), a microbiological study was
performed with the hospital’s operational hygiene team for a
period of one year on public toilet handles. It proved that
AB+® alloy reduces the microbial population present on
touch surfaces compared to plastic handles by a factor of 5.
HEQ At a time when architects and engineering
consultants are involved in the design and the
construction of High Environmental Quality
buildings, the improvement of health safety
remains a common need for all facilities which
are open to the public.
Combined efforts for a better efficacy
The existing hygiene measures associated with abevia
fittings can significantly reduce the microbial burden
and reinforce their efficacy.
The Cu+ mark signifies that this surface is proven to
be more effective in continuously killing microbes
that cause infections.

A commitment
Men and women focus on the future and work to build
a better outlook for coming generations.
Their objectives: zero defect, zero delay, zero pollution, zero
accident. This is based on an integrated, dynamic and systemic
approach which has led FAVI to be:
• The first European foundry to be certified with the environmental
ISO 14001 standard in 1997,
• The first European foundry following the international standard
with reference to health and safety management , in 2008.
FAVI, Winner of the Midest 2012 Innovation Awards, thanks to its
AB+® antimicrobial alloy and abevia range of products.
FAVI is a limited company with a share capital of €960,000, specialized in brass pressure die
casting with various copper alloys.
Quality and safety at the best price Its investment strategy has led FAVI to control all
the activities leading to its products.
From material design to the mass production of parts, its teams design, approve,
industrialise and maximise the tools.
In addition to its products, FAVI offers its customers a quality of service, a traceability
beyond reproach and an efficient reactivity.
Micro-organisms Bacteria, viruses, fungi: these micro-organisms are present in our environ-
ment and fortunately they are not all pathogenic to humans. However, depending on the part
of the body they colonise, they can lead to infectious diseases.
In public places, they are especially carried by human hands, after contact with a contaminated surface.
They are far more dangerous in places which are open to a vulnerable population or to people
with a weakened immune system: children, most older people or people suffering from other
diseases.
Infectious disease control Combined efforts for improved efficacy. In conjunction
with the disinfection and cleaning procedures currently applied in facilities, the installation of abevia antimicrobial products helps reduce the risk of transmitting infectious
diseases.
