Seminar-Workshop: Writing for International Publication

The PAPSCU Excellent Academic Research Link ( PEARL) seminar workshop entitled
“Writing for International Publication” was held last April 10-12, 2014 at the 10th Floor,
Building 7 of Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Manila with the theme: Enhancing Research
Capability of Faculty of Selected PAPSCU-HEIs Through Mentoring and Monitoring”.
The three-day live in seminar was initiated by PAPSCU Excellent Academic Research
Link (PEARL) in collaboration with Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE). This
workshop represents the second part of a series of seminars done last 2012-2013. The aim
of PEARL is to publish a research report to international refereed journals coming from the
output of the attendees from the first activity . It has a long term goal of developing a
vibrant research culture and dynamic collaborations among the member-institutions.
Target date to be submitted to the international publications will be on June 2014.
Moreover, Dr. Allan de Guzman, 2011 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Teacher in
Higher Education, and Faculty of Graduate School University of Sto. Tomas was the
facilitator of the activity. It was hosted by EAC Manila and supported by the President of
PAPSCU & EAC Dr. Jose Paulo E. Campos who also delivered the welcome remarks. The
program was chaired by Dr. Socorro Rodriguez, research director of the said school.
On the other hand, the PEARL core group was composed of Baliuag University,
Central Luzon College of Science & Technology, Emilio Aguinaldo College, IETI College of
Science and Technology, Jose Rizal University, Lyceum of the Philippines
University-Batangas, Manila Central University, Martinez Memorial College, Saint Michael’s
College of Laguna, Southern Luzon Institute, technological Institute of the Philippines,
Tomas Claudio Memorial College, and our institution the University of Perpetual Help
System Laguna.
