INVITATION FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Moderators for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
Octavo Partnership (on behalf of Croydon LA) is seeking to recruit KS1 and KS2 teacher
moderators for Summer Term 2016. Moderators and their schools benefit from the
professional development which involvement in moderation offers.
Teacher moderators will work alongside experienced moderators from Octavo Partnership
on visits to schools to moderate the teacher assessment of reading, writing and mathematics
in Year 2 or writing in Year 6.
This year the moderation window will be during June and July 2016. Moderators should be
able to make a minimum commitment of four after-school moderator meetings, attendance at
relevant moderation cluster meetings during the spring and summer terms and a further two
days for moderation visits.
Moderators must demonstrate the appropriate skills and capabilities to carry out their role.
Previous experience as a local authority moderator is desirable but not essential (see role
specification).
Appointment as a KS1/2 moderator is conditional on demonstration of a good
understanding of national standards in KS1/2 (as relevant) through an assessment
task which will take place early in the Spring Term.
Octavo Partnership will provide training and support for moderators. Attendance at training
sessions is a condition of operating as a moderator for Croydon LA in 2016.
Schools will be reimbursed supply cover costs for time taken for moderation visits in the
summer term.
If you would like further information please contact Ann Longfield on 07920 657803 for an
informal discussion about the role.
Teachers interested in becoming moderators should complete the Expression of Interest
form below, which must include a supporting statement from their headteacher, and return it
to Ann Longfield ([email protected]) by 5.00 pm on Friday 8 January
2016.
Candidates who meet the required criteria (including an endorsement from their
headteacher) will be invited as soon as possible after the closing date to take part in an
assessment task - after which they will be informed whether they have been successful in
their application to be a KS1/2 moderator in 2016.
