Kia ora nga whanau o Puketapu,
Our vision at Puketapu School is to ‘Empower all People’.
As a family and community what would you like our school to ‘Empower all
People to be?’ This is a question we are asking ourselves as a Board of
Trustees and Staff. So when you get a few minutes as a whanau, korero and
finish this sentence:
“We would like Puketapu School to Empower All People to be……………”.
We are looking forward to our performance of our show ‘Gold Rush’ and showcasing the talents of our tamariki to their
parents and wider whanau. A huge thank you to Mary Barron and Lisa Haenga for their time and leadership around
this great learning opportunity for the students.
Well done to our Y7/8 Netball team who are into their interschool semi-finals next week. You have shown excellent
teamwork throughout the qualifying games and we know you will do our school proud in the finals.
Thank you to everyone for all the support through the term, enjoy the last week and a half of school and make sure that
everyone books some time in the holidays to refresh and catch up as a family.

TENNIS HOTSHOTS Coaching at Waiwaka Tennis Club, Chilman St,
Merrilands starts Term 4 on Wednesdays/Thursdays after school. Junior
registration 8 & 9 October 1-3pm, meet the coaches and try the Hotshots
racquets and balls or sign up for the lessons. Age 5+ yrs
TENNIS HOTSHOTS Tuesdays - come and play with friends or family or join the
fun competition for 6 weeks starting 25 October (Red Ball
(6-8yrs) and beginner (Orange Ball 8-11yrs). Short games of 'real' tennis.

Animates Free School Holiday Activities
With the school holidays just around the corner, Animates
stores nationwide will be hosting free workshops, perfect
for keeping the kids entertained! This is a great way for
kids to learn important life skills such as kindness and compassion
towards animals. The workshops will teach them everything they
need to know about cuddly cats and playful pups.
Thursday 29th September & 6th October at 11am, at your local
Animates store.
School Holidays Songwriting Workshop for 11-15 year olds,
Mon 3 -Wed 5 October, 9am-2pm each day.
Write, record and produce a song, leave with a CD and an
awesome experience. Boost confidence, self-esteem, music
skills, team work and have fun too! Limited scholarships
available. $180 pp.

This Friday’s Duffy Role Model Assembly features:
Shelley Ryan
Shelley first started her SPCA journey as a volunteer in
Auckland in 1993. She has worked as a canine
attendant, hospital receptionist, in customer service,
at the call centre and as an ambulance driver, before
becoming Education Manager teaching thousands of
people around the country about the SPCA.
Today, she works with Police and Community Groups
specifically with at risk young people helping to make
the connections of love, kindness and care through
the animals in our homes and community with her own
alternative education business - EmPAWthy – Helping
One, Helps the Other.
She has 5 kids - 2 adult Daughters, 1 teen Son, 2 school
aged daughters, 2 grandsons, 3 dogs, 4 cats, and 2
blue tongued lizards!
Assembly starts at 11.30am - all welcome.
