There are numerous family-oriented activities planned throughout the day. The event kicks off with the Rosie Run – 5K Walk/Run. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and the run starts at 9 a.m. The cost is $25 and all proceeds benefit the upkeep of the Spirit of 76 Park. Activities: Children’s Patriotic Art Show/Auction The Ohio Military Band – 11 a.m.- Noon Patriotic Flag Ceremony Milford Drama students read excerpts from the play Letters from Home Food truck/beverages for purchase For more information, go to www.miamitwpoh.gov or call (513) 248-3727. Survey on Facilities Plan Ends October 14 Milford School District is working on the completion of the final phase of its Master Facilities plan and is asking for community input. An online survey has been posted on the district website at www.milfordschools.org and will remain open through the end of the day on Friday, October 14. To report an absence or appointment, or to request homework, please call our 24-hour ATTENDANCE LINE at 575-0190. Leave child’s name, teacher’s name, and reason for absence. From Mr. Baker Troop Box Donations Each year McCormick Elementary School students and families have contributed items to be placed into small troop boxes. These boxes are then provided to the local Yellow Ribbon military support group to be sent to deployed military personnel around the world. To date, McCormick has provided more than 400 boxes for our men and women. We would like to invite our families to once again donate items from the list provided. Your donations will be divided among boxes and a letter from McCormick will be included. Inside this Issue: McCormick will be accepting donations from October 17-21. Mrs. Grady is looking for a person to accompany our Veteran's Day program on November 11th at 9:00am and the All School Sing which will be on December 13th at 1:45pm. You would need to be available for a few rehearsals during the day before each program. The piano music is varied degrees of difficulty. McCormick Talent Show has been moved! The annual McCormick Talent Show has been moved to Saturday, March 11th. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, February 8th and a dress rehearsal on Friday evening March 10th. Students, begin thinking about what amazing act you may want to perform! Parents, we will need help since many of our talent show volunteers have moved on to volunteer at the Junior High. Be on the lookout for a talent show planning meeting in early January. Each month, the PTO Executive Board nominates and votes on McCormick volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their dedication and service to our school. For the month of October, the PTO Board selected Elaine Mackey to be awarded Volunteer of the Month for their contributions to McCormick Elementary. Elaine designed the banners and T-shirts for McCormickfest and handled public relations and advertising. Thank you Elaine for all the hard work to make McCormickfest such a huge success!
