Minutes
The Occupational Therapy Advisory Committee of the Board of Medical Licensure and
Supervision met on June 30, 2011, in accordance with the Open Meeting Act. The meeting was held at
the office of the Board, 101 NE 51st Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Members present were:

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. The first item of business was approval of
the minutes from the April 7, 2011, Committee meeting. Ms. Grassmann moved to approve the
minutes. Ms. Ford seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative.
Krista Robertson appeared in support of her application for reinstatement of
Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure. Ms. Robertson's last practice has been in October
2009. Ms. Robertson testified that she had moved to Australia and was unable to work while
there. She returned to Oklahoma in March and has been working on her continuing education
hours. She presented copies of certificates showing 36 hours of C.E.U.s. Ms. Grassmann moved
tor recommend approval of the application. Ms. Ford seconded the motion and the vote was
unanimous in the affirmative.
Applications for licensure and reinstatement of licensure were reviewed. Ms. Ford
moved to recommend approval of the following applications for Occupational Therapist
licensure. Ms. Grassmann seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative.

Ms. Grassmann moved to recommend approval of the application for TARA RILEY for
Occupational Therapist licensure pending satisfactory completion of her file. She further moved
to recommend approval of the applications of STEPHANIE ANN FREEMAN and DEBORAH RUTH
JACOBS for reinstatement of Occupational Therapist licensure pending satisfactory completion of the
files. Ms. Ford seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative.
Ms. White moved to recommend approval of the following applications for
Occupational Therapist licensure pending satisfactory completion of the files. Ms. Grassmann
seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative.

Ms. Ford moved to recommend approval of the following applications for Occupational

Ms. Grassmann moved to recommend approval of the following applications for

She further moved to recommend approval of the application of KRISTA RICHELLE ROBERTSON
for reinstatement of Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure. Ms. Ford seconded the motion
and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative.
The Committee discussed supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants. Draft
language for a rule change was reviewed. After discussion, the Committee directed staff to
make changes as discussed and send to Committee members for review. Also, once reviewed
by the Committee, the language could be placed on the website and emailed to licensed OTs
and OTAs for their input. The public hearing for consideration of rule changes would be set for
the October 20th Committee meeting. (See attachment #1)
Requests for pre-approval of continuing education hours were reviewed. Ms. White
moved to approve the recommendations from the Continuing Education Subcommittee. Ms.
Ford seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative. (See attachment #2)
Ms. White moved to accept the course Assessing Chldren with Autism offered by
Project Peak for 20 hours. Ms. Ford seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the
affirmative.
Ms. White moved to table the course Foundations of Dementia Care offered by the
Alzheimer's Association Oklahoma and Arkansas Chapter to ask for additional supporting
documentation. Ms. Ford seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative.
Ms. Grassmann moved to deny the course Auriculotherapy Certification Seminar
offered by the Cancer Treatment Centers of American and the course HAZWOPER for First
Receivers offered by OSU based on lack of relevance to OT. Ms. Ford seconded the motion and
the vote was unanimous in the affirmative.
Ms. Hall reported on the few remaining continuing education audits. She reported that
Ms. Lisa Butikofer had submitted additional hours completed within the current compliance
period. Ms. Gayle Cline had been short three hours but had submitted the required additional
hours. Ms. Grassmann moved to accept the audits. Ms. White seconded the motion and the
vote was unanimous in the affirmative.
Ms. Ford advised the Committee that she would be unable to attend the October 20 th
Committee meeting. There being no further business, Ms. Grassmann moved to adjourn the
meeting. Ms. Ford seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in the affirmative. The
time was 10:25 a.m.
