DTS, ATLANTA HAWKS RADIO NETWORK AND DICKEY BROADCASTING COMPANY SCORE FIRST
SURROUND SOUND NBA RADIO BROADCAST
DTS Neural Surround Sound™ Immerses Atlanta Hawks Fans in Court-Side Action, Delivering HighDefinition Audio for Every Play
CALABASAS, Calif. (April 3, 2012)—Today DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio,
announced that Dickey Broadcasting Company and the Atlanta Hawks Radio Network have partnered to
broadcast all of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks home games with DTS Neural Surround Sound™ technology.
The continued collaboration between Dickey Broadcasting Company and DTS–the same lineup behind
the high-definition audio delivery of Atlanta Braves –now brings the NBA’s first surround sound games in
radio broadcast history.
“We continuously strive to provide our listeners with the very best sound in radio sports broadcasting,
and thanks to DTS’ high-performance audio technology, we can add another professional sport to our
roster—introducing basketball fans to a whole new level of sports entertainment,” said Gary Kline,
senior vice president of engineering, Cumulus Media. “Our partnership with DTS and Atlanta Hawks
Radio Network brings listeners to the action, as if they’re seated court-side, experiencing the unique
court sounds of Philips Arena.”
The DTS Neural Surround technology is built by DTS licensee DaySequerra and integrated on-site at
Philips Arena, with the Atlanta Hawks Radio Network mobile package. The DTS-based configuration
encodes both live and recorded 5.1 surround sound mixes for a lifelike, high-quality radio broadcast. By
implementing the highest audio resolution possible, the DTS Neural Surround Sound format allows the
Hawks’ broadcast production team to transmit each game with full venue ambience and unprecedented
quality.

“The heightened physical play taking place in today’s NBA arenas is awe-inspiring for fans both in the
stands and at-home crowds,” added Jon Kirchner, CEO of DTS, Inc. “The blow of the whistle, pounding of
the ball and swish of the net are all sounds that entertain listeners and help transport fans tuning in to
the game via the TV, radio, or online streaming, to the heart of the action and dramatically elevate the
game experience.”
The Atlanta Radio Network joins the Chiefs and Braves Radio Networks along with a growing list of DTS
content partners covering multiple music genres and more than 1,500 radio stations broadcasting
surround sound with DTS Neural Surround technology.
