SKILLS-BASED MODULAR COURSE
In line with the objectives of SkillsFuture to support and
encourage lifelong learning and help Singapore Citizens
(SCs) stay responsive to a changing workplace, the
Ministry of Education (MOE) will be introducing more
skills-based modular courses at post-secondary
education institutions.
There will be a wider range and scale of short,
skills-focused modular courses relevant to industry needs
to help Singaporeans with more opportunities to acquire
relevant skills.
COURSE SYNOPSIS
This module addresses current topics of interest in
exercise physiology which are relevant to the athlete in
particular, by a combination of seminars, laboratories and
field work. Students are expected to have a sound
working knowledge of exercise physiology. Certain topics
are covered in more detail in class (energy metabolism,
training practices, ergogenic aids and supplements) and
laboratory measures for athlete assessment techniques in
sports and exercise physiology will be reviewed, with
practical applications used to provide the experiential
learning.
CERTIFICATION
Applicants will be awarded the Modular Certificate
issued by Republic Polytechnic upon meeting 50% of
attendance requirement and passing all coursework and
assessment. Upon successful completion of this
Modular Certificate, you will be awarded the Modular
Certificate in Applied Psychology in Sports and
Coaching issued by Republic Polytechnic.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Coaches, athletes, fitness trainers, Physical Education
teachers, physiotherapists, nurses, sports CCA
teachers, and health and fitness enthusiasts.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should possess:
• a relevant local polytechnic Diploma or relevant Degree
of any discipline which offers module(s) in any of the
following areas:
o Chemical and Life Sciences;
o Applied Sciences;
o Health Sciences;
o Engineering;
o Humanities and Social Sciences
o Education/ Physical Education
• at least 2 years of relevant working experience.
Applicants who do not meet the above requirements shall
be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
