Friday, 27 January 2017 Frettenham Primary School Newsletter Frettenham Primary School School Road Frettenham Norwich NR12 7LL Head of School: Mr Gyles Longhurst Telephone/Fax. 01603 737405 email. [email protected] Message from Gyles Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the next Assertive Mentoring appointment. At this one you will be able to look through some books and get a good idea of what learning they have been doing and the progress they are making. We try to make the appointments as useful as possible and by having the child there they also get to hear first- hand about successes they have achieved and also discuss future targets and how we and you as parents will support them. Mathletics use seems to be going from strength to strength. We now have a Mathletic award for the class who earn the highest average number of points over the week. With the children I work with at Mathletic club I have seen a huge increase in their confidence and ability to apply their maths. Last term across the school the children answered a whopping 57590 questions. What is clear is repeating questions and activities help embed the concepts and learning. As little as 3 activities (about 20 minutes) a week has been shown to have a positive effect on a child’s overall maths ability. Congratulations go to Mollie in class 1, Zara in class 2 and Louis in class 3 whose designs for our “Pupil of the day” badges were chosen and are now being proudly worn around school. Collections If arrangements for collecting children are different from normal or change during the day, please ensure you contact the office so we are aware at the earliest opportunity. On occasions we have had messages passed on to us by other parents, which can delay handing over children as we need to be sure they are being collected by the correct adult. The Nebula Partnership Friday, 27 January 2017 Frettenham Primary School Newsletter Celebration Assembly At Frettenham Primary Partnership School we take a pride in recording and celebrating our children’s successes and personal achievements. Each week a child from each class is chosen by the class teacher to receive either a Values Award or Pupil of The Week in that week’s Celebration Assembly. These assemblies take place every Friday morning and families of the children involved are warmly welcome to share in their child’s special assembly. It is true to say that this is a highlight of the school week for the whole school community.
