With this recognition, we thank you our dear parents for all your support as we continue to thrive with excellence. Carousel Preschool will be closed on Monday, October 13, in observance of Columbus Day. Carousel Preschool encourages the children to always strive to be the best! We applaud their efforts by selecting one child every month from each class to be honored as the Student of the Month in our Student of the Month Awards Ceremony. Back to School Night On Thursday evening, October 23 from 5:00 to 6:30pm, we will have our annual family Back to School Potluck Dinner. This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet the school staff, your fellow Carousel families and especially your child’s friends. There will be a beautiful displays of special projects your children will have worked on throughout this month. If your family would like to attend this special event, we request that you please bring something to contribute to the Potluck Dinner. The portion should be enough for 12 people. Please mark your calendar as we send out more detailed information closer to the date. *PLEASE NOTE: SCHOOL WILL CLOSE AT 3:30 ON OCTOBER 23 TO PREPARE FOR “BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT” Halloween Party Friday, October 31, will be our school Halloween Party. Children may come to school in their costume (no scary face masks or weapons will be allowed). The children will have a costume parade in the playground and will do trick or treat in all the classrooms. Kindly bring a set of clothes for your child to change in after the festivities. Please make sure that all clothes are labeled with your child’s name. Weather We may be experiencing cooler weather soon, please label all your children’s belongings e.g. jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, and hats. Kindly check your child’s cubby later this month, you may need to exchange the additional clothing for warmer items. We welcome fall with a lot of new friends and fun–filled activities. We will be doing arts and crafts that will pertain to the theme of the month and learn about numbers, letters, shapes & colors. Congratulation to Jana Poserio and Liliana Willoughby for being chosen as students of the month for September! Jana is a very smart girl. At circle time she’s very participative and C AT E R P I L L A R S stays focused until the end of the activity. She gives her almost 100% attention and loves to interact with every story that I read. she wants to be the first one to do her art work and is not happy when she’s done. She knows what the subject is and she does it with perfection. She is very independent especially at lunch time. She can feed herself. Jana is a very sweet girl who can get along with everybody. Way to go, Jana! Liliana is one of those smart kids that I have. At circle time, she will request a certain song or a story book that she wants to hear. R o l l i e Happy Halloween and Happy Fall! First and foremost the Rollie Pollies would like to give a warm welcome to Dexter, Li– liana and Angelina!! Last month the children were able to explore their emotions and get to know their body parts. The children sang “Head, shoulders, knees, and toes” while pointing to their corre- he can follow good directions and always gets excited for new things introduced to the classroom. She shows independence especially at lunch time where She feeds herself. Her vocabulary has increased and uses her words to ask for her wants and needs. In fact, she is very respectful. She says “please” if she wants something from us. Liliana is the first ever under Ms. Antonia and my care to be potty trained and show consistency in doing so. We are very proud of that. Student of the Month: The Rollie Pollies would like to congratulate Abraham Gonzales on being the Student of the Month. Abraham has shown great improvement in his vocabulary skills. He follows directions and has started to follow two-step directions. Abraham practices shapes, colors, and letters of the alphabet. Abraham is friendly to all his friends and cooperates with them during activities. Congratulations Abraham!! Ms. Araceli, Ms. Evelia Ms. Nancy and Ms. Kimberly D r a g o n f l i e s Dear Dragonfly parents, The Dragonflies class would like to warmly welcome Mila, Emmanuel, Isaiah, as the newest members of our class. It is always a delight to have new friends join the class. The Dragonflies class always makes new friends feel welcome. This month, the students are learning the letters A, B, and C. When we ask what students names in our class start with the letter A, the students say Avery and Ariya. To practice other words that start with the letter A, the students each come up during circle time to pick a picture out of the bag with pictures that start with the letter A. The students show the picture to their friends and say what the picture is. This is their favorite part of circle time because they each get to share with their friends. This month, the students are also learning body parts. The Dragonflies class would like to honor Kevin Salinas as Student of the Month. Kevin is a quiet boy who enjoys playing with his friends both inside and outside the classroom. Kevin has shown great improvements with his verbal skills and is using his words more. When the class is walking to the playground, Kevin always walks together with the rest of the class. When asked to repeat phrases and requests, Kevin always does so. He is always the first one to help clean up when it is clean up. Kevin is a joy to have in the classroom. We have two holidays to celebrate this month, Columbus Day and Halloween. We will also learn many new academic skills, a new color, and new letters. Student of the month He has progressed in saying approximately 80 words now, and is looking forward to saying 200 words. Sivori also knows his alphabet, his shapes, and numbers 1-20. He is a very bright student who loves to do arts and crafts and enjoys dancing and taking out his friends to dance and saying “please”. The Butterfly classroom is very proud of Sivori Menjivar. keep doing a great job! The Butterfly Classroom has the honor to present Sivori Menjivar as the student of the month for September . Sivori was chosen to be the student of the month because he has developed great language skills. October is a very busy month for us! Our themes will include: Columbus Day and Halloween. Furthermore, the kids will focus on Square shapes, and the colors: Black, Yellow and Orange. We will be counting 1 to 20, working on sorting and patterning activities as well as working on Arts & Crafts and Science experiments. Halloween preparations will be in the works too! Ladybugs’ Student of the Month for September is Jamil Muhammad. Jamil is cheerful, diligent and enthusiastic. He works cooperatively with others. He does everything with a good attitude and a smile on his face. He consistently participates in class. By working together, we can make this a wonderful beginning to your child’s education. Fireflies will highlight this month of October with discussions about the Fall Season, Weather, and answer the question “Why do leaves Change Color?” Math: Shapes, Number concepts of 1 10 Most of the children in our class are more than ready to learn new concepts, new procedures and rules inside and outside the classroom. We will play games such as: the leaf race, leaf rubbing, painting, coloring and pasting activities. They will also learn some poems and songs in relation with our academics and the Season. Science: Weather and Season: “Why Do Leaves Change Color?” Here are the topics we are working on for this month: Reading: Vowels: Aa, Ee, Ii, Oo, Uu Pre-writing Skills: Straight Drawing of Shapes, Writing numbers 0-9 other children. He pays attention and listens well during our lesson and discussion time. He can recognize and identify most of the letters and phonic sounds as well as numbers 1-10.
