Requirements for the Outline Mrs. Shaw Sophomore PreAP 1 Dec. 2015 The outline of your paper should be “the map” of where you are going with your research and your writing. The outline is not written in stone, as changes may happen while you research, but it will help you determine the structure and layout of your paper. I would like you to follow the length and format of the example outline that you see on the back. However, the style of your outline (numbers, letters, Roman numerals, etc.) is up to you. Requirements: MLA format (although the Outline format breaks spacing rules—see example) Include the thesis statement in the Introduction section. Include a pattern of numbering (and lettering) as seen in the example. Reflect the layout of the Introduction, Body, and Conclusion in your organization. Be brief and to the point— there should be no complete sentences in the Outline. Include the MLA heading in top lefthand corner. The title is: Outline. Should be at least one full page, but not over one page *See section 1.8 in the MLA Handbook for advice on Outlining Due : Monday, Dec. 7th at the beginning of the period, along with your Annotated Sources. I will be calling on you individually to meet with me while you are working on your First Draft. Points Possible (Summative): Outline30; Annotated Sources30 * Note: You should have your thesis statement cemented for the Outline. See section 1.8.2 in the MLA Handbook for help with creating a thesis statement.
